Pre-emptive plea--please don't clutter this thread with comments about how all the best shows are on HBO or Netflix. We know. We all know.

So, anybody watching any of the new network TV shows?
  • Comedies like "Kevin Can Wait", "Speechless", "American Housewife", "The Good Place", "Son of Zorn"?
  • Dramas like "This is Us", "Designated Survivor", "Pitch", "No Tomorrow", "Conviction", "Notorious", "The Exorcist"?
  • Cop/Legal shows like "Lethal Weapon", "Bull", "Timeless", "Frequency", "MacGyver"?
Anyone check any of these out and find any that they've liked?

I DVR "Son of Zorn" because I found it pretty funny initially, and I think the cartoon over top/injected with real life actors is interesting.

I tried it because my wife wanted to watch Simpsons Treehouse of Horrors. 600 episodes of that shit is ridiculous. It was good for the first 100 or so.

I can't stomach commercials after being without them for so long.

We've been recording and watching "Designated Survivor". The first episode was pretty good because of the "what if" factor, but it's been pretty meh since then.

You tell me if any of them are any good. Until then I'll stick to $@+$&$...whoops, I've sort of broken the rules.
I've personally enjoyed "The Good Place" quite a bit. It's delightfully silly. "Speechless" is also pretty good, and "Pitch" does a pretty honest treatment of what it would be like if there ever were a woman who were capable of playing with the guys at a major-league level.

I watched 1 episode of Bull. It felt a little like the Mentalist (which i really liked). Good enough to keep my attention, but nothing to look forward to.

I watched the first episode of This is Us. Emotional with twists, but again, just so so and I haven't watched anymore episodes. I thought I would keep watching this one, just haven't.

I haven't seen any of the others.

I've been watching Bull (primarily because my wife loves Michael Weatherly). I get a bit annoyed by the whole ridiculous "mirror jury" premise, as though those other 12 people don't have lives of their own. But suspension of disbelief, right...?

You've got to wonder how much longer traditional TV will last in making shows that are broadcast for free over the airwaves with the commercials providing the initial revenue stream. We hardly watch any shows that way anymore. Streaming commercial-free content, with the ability to watch episodes at your own pace, is just too appealing.

Agreed. I avoid commercials whenever I can.

We've been watching The Good Place too and I also really like it. I've always liked most things with Kristin Bell anyway all the way back to Veronica Mars.

Since they've refused to honestly report the news, I don't watch any network entertainment.

Actually have never even heard of any of these.

Netflix, when I do watch.

I picture you more of an All in the Family on VHS type of guy.

A young Barack Obama, known to his friends as “Barry,” arrives in New York City in the fall of 1981 to begin his junior year at Columbia University. In a crime-ridden and racially charged environment, Barry finds himself pulled between various social spheres and struggles to maintain a series of increasingly strained relationships with his Kansas-born mother, his estranged Kenyan father, and his classmates.Barry is the story of a young man grappling with those same issues that his country, and arguably the world, are still coming to terms with 35 years later. On Netflix December 16.

You mean those things inbetween entertainment which are designed to play on societies stupidity and impulsive nature? You can make them entertaining by playing "Which idiot are they targeting and how?". I like the coke commercials which pray on people who hate their life and think "well maybe if I drank more coke things would be better".

I have been watching Exorcist. It's not bad for a FOX show (let me clarify that FX is very good consistently, FOX not so much).

I've been watching Designated Survivor too, and just like Quantico last year it starts off pretty good and gets worse every episode. I could see myself dropping it 6-8 episodes in like Quantico.

Ive been watching son if zorn. It is a big bag of meh.

I really like kevin can wait.

Havent watched any others. Have heard good things about this is us. So will give it a shot.

Ive been consumed with american horror story this season. Not new, but definitely my favorite show currently on tv.

I remember seeing the preview for Frequency and wanting to check it out. Thanks for the reminder. Designated Survivor and Timeless look interesting to me as well.

Pitch has a a really high rating has anyone seen it?

I saw a preview and thought "So this is fox's newest original 1 year run time". Clearly I'm still salty that they cancelled Terra Nova.

I like it, and I enjoy the way they intersperse flashbacks to slowly build the backstory, but I'm not a fan of some of the secondary storylines they've apparently decided are necessary.

That cartoon block they play on Sundays is just abysmal and has been for years now. I can't believe they still trot out the corpses of the Simpsons and Family Guy year after year, and Bob's Burgers is okay but not worth watching. They always have a shitty Son of Zorn/ Napoleon Dynamite/ Allan Gregory show that gets canceled after 6 episodes.

It's a shame King of the Hill is gone, although it was getting pretty meh like FG and the Simpsons at the end too.

They should fire the entire Simpsons team other than the voice talent and hire funny people to give it one more go. One year at a time.

Kevin can wait is garbage
Speachless is good
American housewife has been really good so far
Good place I am trying to be patient with
Son of Zorn is funny

This is us is very good
Designated survivor is good
Pitch is hot garbage
The rest are not that goid.
I like Bull
Timeless is adequate

This is us.
Timeless.
Designated Survivor.
Frequency (CW).
Westworld (HBO).
Bull.

This, to me, is one of the best years for new shows. Last year was the worst. We liked almost all the new dramas enough that we had to eliminate some because there just isn't enough time to watch them all.

This is us was outstanding from the first show.

I like Pitch for the music and for the hometown on TV.

When is Bones premiering in the new year? In the meantime, I watch Survivor and NBA.

I only watch House reruns. Lol. Well, and Impractical Jokers. THAT, is a funny ass show!.....

(Just for you King-I will check out Bones too....)

This Is Us
Designated Survivor ( I'm surprised ABC made a good show finally)
Lethal weapon is good too, brings the vibe of the movies to the small screen

Chance on Hulu...see Hugh Laurie play the opposite of house (it's bizarre)
