I actually would rather get Dougie McBuckets... the dude is 6’8” and can shoot the lights out... over 40% 3pt career in NBA and hasn’t even played in a good system... I would definitely try to get McDermott on the cheapDoug McDermott.
No but seriously it should be Ellington or Rudy Gay.
Wait, you complain about the prospect of getting Courtney Lee but want Doug McDermott???I actually would rather get Dougie McBuckets... the dude is 6’8” and can shoot the lights out... over 40% 3pt career in NBA and hasn’t even played in a good system... Courtney Lee is on the downside of his career at 33 years old and is either a backup at SG or creates an extremely small starting lineup at SF... Dougie McBuckets can flat out score, has size, and hasn’t hit his prime yet... I like upside over an aging journeyman who averaged 12 ppg in 30 min on a 28 win teamWait, you complain about the prospect of getting Courtney Lee but want Doug McDermott???
He's awful at everything except for 3pt shooting...
Doug "McBuckets" isn't efficient from inside the arc (less than 50%) and doesn't get the the FT like (apx .15 FTr). So he's only effective as a 3pt shooter, and doesn't add anything else...Courtney Lee is on the downside of his career at 33 years old and is either a backup at SG or creates an extremely small starting lineup at SF... You have obviously never seen McDermott play... you don’t even watch games, just look up useless stats and arm measurements to judge a player... Doug hasn’t hit his prime and has been stuck in shitty offenses... he was the best scorer in the country in college and even tho he was misused in NBA still shot over 40% 3pt every seasonDoug "McBuckets" isn't efficient from inside the arc (less than 50%) and doesn't get the the FT like (apx .15 FTr). Allen Crabbe also averaged 13ppg and 30 min on a bad team, that doesn't mean he's a good player to have in the rotation. That 28 win team didn't even want to sign him for a cheap QO offer.
McDermott off the bench with guys like CJ and Lillard would have open looks all game long. He just needs to stand there and make shots. Be Kyle Korver. Be Steve Kerr. Be a guy who a team needs to keep an eye on. We don’t have that.
He is only 26 years old, never played in a good system, 6’8” and can shoot from anywhere on the courtI could probably be talked into McDermott. Not everyone we go after has to be a perfect player. Just fill a role.
Our defense would also be horrible because McDermott can't guard a paperclip. We don't have the luxury of being able to play poor defenders at SF.McDermott off the bench with guys like CJ and Lillard would have open looks all game long. What do you honestly think would improve if he came here?He is only 26 years old, never played in a good system, 6’8” and can shoot from anywhere on the court
Did you even watch??? I’m proving your point that all he can do is shoot threes is wrong
At least watch the first 4 shots he makes... cutting to the basket, moving without the ball, putting ball on court and driving, dunking... how is he only a 3pt shooter?? Please watch and respond... and this is NBA competition, not some low level overseas league
In terms of productivity, a 97 ORTG isn't priductive, and that's the output from his 2pt shots. So yes, he can only shoot 3s productively. He may look good on scoring plays, but if he was actually good on an NBA level, he'd have a better percentage from 2. It's simple logic. And for some reason, the trash Mavs don't even want him. But he should get minutes for a playoff team?Did you even watch??? I’m proving your point that all he can do is shoot threes is wrong
So the trash Knicks wanting to salary dump 33 year old Courtney Lee makes him good enough to get minutes on a playoff team, but 26 year old McDermott isn’t... contradict yourself much? There you go again with you cockamamie stats on small sample sizes as the end all be all for what a player can do... I was simply showing you a video that he moves well without the ball and can dribble and drive... had nothing to do with his game logIn terms of productivity, a 97 ORTG isn't priductive, and that's the output from his 2pt shots. How can I contradict myself when talking about two completely different situations? You avoid context to try to prove a point and it's comical. So the trash Knicks wanting to salary dump 33 year old Courtney Lee makes him good enough to get minutes on a playoff team, but 26 year old McDermott isn’t... contradict yourself much? Theres many guys that can fill the 3-and-D role that could be available. Settling for a one-way player will keep us stuck in mediocrity.Beggars can’t be choosers.

They don't want Courtney Lee because they're rebuilding, and because they already have a starting SG. Dallas is a rebuilding team with no bench and McDermott is young. Different situations.
McDermott is a decent finisher around the rim, but from 3ft all the way to the 3pt line, he's absolutely horrible. He's not a guy that can get to the rim well either. McDermott finished around the rim less than once per game in over 21 minutes per... But of course, that's factual evidence that goes against your argument, so somehow it wont count or something.
How are shooting percentages implausible? What the hell are you actually talking about? You have these pre-conceived notions that you're too stubborn to budge on, so when hard evidence and simple stats that accurately reflect production, you sit here and say that it's "cockamamie". Lmao.
So you don't think shooting percentages mean anything? Got it. I'll remind you of that from now on.
For a minimum contract? Lol.To be fair Dallas isn’t really rebuilding. They’re going hard after DeAndre Jordan. Withdrawing McDermott was more about getting his cap hold off the books for an immediate move elsewhere. I read that they still have interest in bringing him back.
For a minimum contract? Lol.
Doesn't detract from my point though. He's not good.
