For tomorrow's game, I will blame Will Vinton, whose clay-mation California Raisins fooled 7-year-old me into thinking for a short time that California was cool. That was a crappy thing to do to impressionable Gen-X youths!!
 
San Francisco.
For years the Warriors played at the Oakland Arena. When BART was built they had a Coliseum station for easy access to stadium and arena, built ramp so fans could walk from train to doorstep. Arena closed for a year for upgrades. But 200 level seats were still relatively cheap and even up in that level had good sight lines. They had devoted following of blue collar Oakland fans. Who showed up even when team stunk. Like Damian Lillard.

But they followed the money. Went to San Francisco, got shiny new arena with boxes and suites for the rich. The upper levels have steep staircases, lousy views. And still expensive. No direct BART access, the people they want to attend don't use transit.

This will never be San Francisco Warriors. Stop pretending.

Weren't they the San Francisco Warriors for 9 years before moving to Oakland and rebranding to "Golden State"?

It's got to be the gold rush. It made that area the focal point of the western world for a period of time and I think this Warriors dynasty and it's sense of entitlement wouldn't be so goddamn obnoxious if it weren't so intrenched in values held in certain areas of the bay area (definitely the ones the Warriors players live in) that started during the 1840s.

Well before their move, I've long felt they should change their name to the Golden Gate Warriors to claim the Bay as their home

Golden State soulds like they're trying to claim an entire state that has 3 other teams residing in it or some sort of Owsley acid
