scott has improved tremendously as a coach. first of all, he stopped being lazy, here he had eddie jordan, in NO, he realizes he's the guy. second, he led depleted hornets teams close to the playoffs starting guys like pargo and mason for some time years ago. hell, we had vince and kidd and barely had a better record then them last year in a weak east. third, no one, and i mean no one, expected NO to come close to 60 wins this year. thats takes some good, consistent coaching.

No question, Jason Kidd. The guy deserves to win. Again, Jason Kidd didn't quit on the Nets. It was a situation where a breakup was long overdue. Thorn held on to Kidd for the wrong reasons. The situation in Jersey was a lot worse than people think. It's easy to point the finger on Kidd. Thorn did a good job on that. Jason Kidd wanted to be retire a Net. A lot of you forgot about that. Jason Kidd quit on Thorn... not the Nets. There's a big difference there. Think about it.

I don't see how Kidd boycotted games. His heart might not have been in it, but he was still putting up his normal numbers. In Carter's final season with the Raps, he was averaging around 15 ppg, until he got traded to Jersey where he magically started putting up 25 ppg in the same season.

If anything you could deduce that I could be happy that he's gone, based on my opinion of how he played during his final years in New Jersey. Kidd wanted out of Jersey. Everyone knew that before the season started. He created a sour, shitty atmosphere for the Nets team at the beginning of the season. He didn't act like the leader we all thought he was. He basically gave up on the team, but still put up pretty stats and triple-doubles so that he could showcase his skills and get traded to a good team, for a chance to win a championship. You wanna know why? Because he's a selfish bastard. A 20 million dollar bastard.

It would be horribly biased for me to discount his work toward this franchise. At the same time I'd be just as biased if I chose to wear rose-colored glasses and not judge his more recent behavior objectively.

What would you have done in a situation where you did everything yourself? Intstead of moving forward after back to back finals appearances, what does the Nets do? Strip his supporting cast one by one. Not enough? Let's see what our temp coach can do for a couple of more years. What else? Hmmm... Let's not give our best player a reasonable extension. On top of that let's give one of the laziest, no heart, fade away shooting player in the NBA a 60 million dollar raise. Anyway, we don't need to win, we're moving to Brooklyn! All you people see is Kidd wanting out. You never bothered to look at the reason behind it.

I actually tried to follow the Nuggets and Nets after Kenyon got traded, especially during the Eric Williams-era (mother of god). Still, I couldn't do it. I just had no attachment to the Nuggets; their colors, their players, their logos, whatever. Additionally I couldn't grasp how it was interesting to watch a game when the only enjoyment you'd get out of watching "your team" was when your player was on the court. To this end the Vince-fans, Stromile-fans, and Kidd-fans sort of escape me. I think their experience with the NBA would be much more enriched if they chose to attach themsleves to a franchise and not a player. Players are temporary, but franchises are forever.*

Jason isn't paid to play with the players of his choosing. He's paid to play basketball and play as hard as he can to the team he's under contract for. Anything else violates the spirit of his contact, and is unprofessional.

There, you said it. You were not a fan of the Nets before Kidd. So how can you put judgement on something that you barely knew. All you have knowledge of the situation is during the Kidd-era. At least the others who has words for Kidd has the backing of years of loyalty to the team. You don't even know what your defending or whatever it is your trying to prove or say. Your no Nets fan. I barely know anything about Kidd being on the team because I only started being a fan with Kidd being on the team LOL this is great. I didn't think I'd get involved with this thread but you've certainly made it entertaining, and therefore worthwile.

But as for the little girl comment, you should concentrate your focus on knowing what we're talking about rather than wasting cognitive resources trying to come up with petty "insults." I think it'll really improve the quality of discussion if you keep it together.

We're talking about the Kidd-era, and therefore knowledge of the Kidd-era is relevant. So what if I was never a Nets fan before Kidd got here, thats not what we're talking about.

If that's not relevant, I don't know what is. Your stand is that Kidd quit on the team. Kidd wanting to be dealt justifies your notion that Jason Kidd quit on the Nets. Right? Wrong. Follow the trail of events. Research on why Kidd came to his decision. It's not something that just happened overnight. Kidd did not quit on the Nets.

It's not relevant. Why do you think that I needed to be a fan to know that the Nets sucked in the years before Kidd got there? By that same token you shouldn't know anything about the teams in the NBA except the ones you followed, and I'd be willing to bet that isn't true.

Kidd did quit on the Nets, but I didn't come to that conclusion because he wanted to be traded. Those are two separate issues. I understand why he wanted to be traded, and that's fine. But had he held himself to a professional standard he would have done his job to his best ability regardless; he didn't, he gave up, and quit on them.

Had he voiced his displeasure and continued to play at the level he is now with the Mavs, the same level he did during the Nets the past couple of years, I don't think anyone would have any ill feelings toward him. If anything, they would have respected him more for continuing to show fortitude while playing with a depleated roster. That would have been quite an example.
