They are horrible. They can't even play summer league.

Layman is a rotational player at best. Pat sucks.

Does it matter? They're never going to see the floor.

So just cut them and carry two empty roster spots? I don't think that's going to happen. ;)

My point is, they're there because the team has no one better. You could get minimum salaried scrubs like Jeff Green (players like him, not him specifically since Cleveland has already snapped him up) but I'd probably rather have Connaughton and Layman. Green is a known quantity borderline NBA player. The Con Man and the Layman are not-fully-known quantity borderline NBA players. Maybe one of them becomes a Kyle Korver or something. Doubtful, but unless you have better players to replace them with, there's no opportunity cost.

They're eating up salary cap. Why are you shitting on Sly's dream to volunteer to sit on the bench and be a Portland Trail Blazer?

Much too early to make a decision on Layman either way. Project Pat is non-guaranteed until a certain date. He will likely be let go.

No freaking way. I could find two guys in the park better than them.

Ugh. Layman still can't shoot. His shots are so off that it's embarrassing. I don't get it. His first NBA game he couldn't miss. Ever since then he can't hit the broad side of a barn.

Def release Pat and Layman need a some more game experience. Maybe try him in the G league for another spell again. He's looking better on D though.

Because they where drafted as Blazers and there developing youth. Not to mention Paul Allen loves the draft.

They're making the minimum. If you cut them, you'd have cap holds (I think) for the minimum anyway. I know for at least the first 12 roster spots you have cap holds if they're empty. I'm just not completely sure about the 13-15th spots.

Because fuck SlyPokerDog, that's why. He's the Lonzo Ball of this forum and you can take that any way you like.

You lie!

Connaughton is making $1,471,382 and Layman is making $1,312,611

Do you know what the minimum salary for 2 years of experience is? $1,471,382

Relatedly, do you know what the minimum salary for 1 year of experience is? $1,312,611

I never lie, except when it would be amusing to me.

Well they're clearly overpaid.

I still have some hope for Layman. He is pretty athletic. He was a good shooter in college...I don't know what the hell happened to him. You'd expect nba caliber talent, even 3rd stringers, to really kick butt in summer league.
