I was watching Outside the Lines today. The episode was mostly focused on steroids. They had a story about Mark McGwire and how his involvement with steroid use has tarnished his legacy. Anyway, they went on about how they won't put this statue of Mark outside Busch Stadium or whatever the hell the Cardinals' field is. Then they went to this guy who is a collector of Mark McGwire memorabilia. This is where he says the most mind-blowing thing I have heard in a long time. He says something like, "Show me syringes, receipts, some physical evidence that McGwire has taken steroids, then I'll believe it."After I heard that, I almost hacked up a lung. I was laughing so hard. It is so unbelievable to me that people really think McGwire and guys like him have not taken steroids.Idiots actually believe that McGwire went from this scrawny fool:
to this massive meathead:
...without performance-enhancing drugs. Yeah right... milk, my ass.I would be alright with the fact that he did it if they would just handle it maturely and sensibly. Bonds and McGwire have both avoided the issue to the extent where it's downright irritating. McGwire has basically implied a few times that he has taken steroids too. They showed a video where he was talking about how he didn't want to talk about stuff in the past. And I don't want to hear all these people saying, "blah blah Barry hasn't been caught, durr durr." The irony would be funny, but I'm sick of hearing it.Is anyone else sick of people that just can't admit that illegal performance-enhancing drugs are a problem in today's sports? I'm talking about all sports too... football, track and field, baseball, and cycling.
