I think the answer is that in the end none of our lives really matter. Doing the best with the life you've got is about all you can do.

Maybe it should be black lives matter as much as the next.

I support the original intention of the "black lives matter" movement, I get where the basis came from, but as it moves forward, the exclusionary evolution of it, I cannot support. It's a much bigger discussion. We, as Americans, as a country founded upon and based upon freedom, deserve so much more.

We ALL deserve more. We all should demand more from the powers that overlord us. We, the American Public, should demand more, in unity, to preserve the rights and freedoms for which our country is supposedly based upon.

Well, I think it would be grand if we didn't need cops at all. But we need to eliminate the assholes running down the road brandishing knives, thugs robbing liquors stores, and other uncivil acts.

The main weapon you choose as your villain is knives...yes, this is predictable...

3 black people shot by police in Chicago over Christmas.

One a mentally disturbed boy armed with an aluminum baseball bat. To be sure he was dead, the cops shot him 7 times. The cops shot his downstairs neighbor for good measure, too. She was an elderly woman who just opened her door.

The other was a man who had dropped his weapon and had his arms up.

I think continuing to post threads disparaging a movement that simply wants to hold police accountable for their actions says much more about the poster than the movement.

Well you could volunteer to be on call. The main man to coax the knife wielding misguided soles out off the street. Just think of the good you could do, save the poor buggers life, save the cop from a frighting experience. Hell, show the world how it's done, a lesson in applied humanity. Probably make a wad in the process, guys like me would pay to watch.
But I have no suggestion what you do with the traffic held up for however long it takes to get your shinning example of compassion on the scene. Some dumb sob might get sick of the wait and just run his ass down with Detroit iron.

If people can use the rationale that we should not let in Syrian refugees because they fear one of them might be a terrorist, how can those same people not understand the fear that black people as a whole have of police because one of them might be a murderer?

But is that really what it's still about?

Why would it be about anything different? People who want to bring up black on black crime are idiots because they are comparing apples to oranges. When a black person kills another black person where do they go? They go to prison or they are either killed by police. When the police officer kills an unarmed black man they get away scott free and nothing happens. That is a reason why people are protesting. It gets on my fucking nerves when people don't understand this simple distinction.

Susan G Komen stands for breast cancer awareness. Do you think they don't care about prostate cancer? Should we say all cancers matter? Those of you who say all lives matter are missing the point.

Again two words and a comma:

HELLO, Black lives matter TOO.

No. I get the initial intent and I agree with it, as previously stated. But ultimately, all lives matter. There have been large rallies that have been exclusionary of non-blacks. You will never convince me that behavior doesn't perpetuate the problem. You want t solve the problem, it's going to take a village.

If you think the BLM movement excludes white people you are sorely mistaken.

So you went out to march with the BLM movement and were turned away?

There have been rallies that have been exclusionary. At least if I'm to believe some media reports. I don't believe everything I read, but the truth is always somewhere between the stories each side as to tell.

And then there's always those that choose to ruin it for everyone else, using a positive cause to further their own agenda.

Exclusion for an event or two is not the same thing as exclusion from the movement or any other event.

The usual suspects are all over this angle. Yahoo was at least a little honest about it, providing quotes from the BLM side, their rationale.

School principal and event organizer Nathaniel Rouse explained his thinking to the newspaper. “First and foremost, this is not meant to give a connotation that we were trying to be exclusive,” he said, adding that the decision to allow only black students was based on the philosophy known as “affinity grouping,” which allows people of one racial or other subgroup to be able to express themselves fully and safely. “I believe that the discussion will help us as a school begin talking about race in a deeper and more meaningful way than ever before — and most important, produce change,” Rouse said in a statement posted on the school’s website in response to the complaints.

Cool story. I didn't call the movement BS, for the record. As I have said, I'm all for the cause. But I believe all lives matter. But that somehow turns into a disagreement.

I understand the history of racism here in the U.S. I understand that plays into the mistreatment of all people of color, especially by law enforcement. And I understand there are still a ton of hillbilly racists living amongst us here today. But it goes both ways. And for those that think law enforcement simply oversteps its bounds simply out of racism or prejudice, if you think the end of racism ends police brutality or misjudgment, you're mistaken. Yes, racism is a big part of the problem. But there's a lot more to the problem than racism.

Sorry to those who feel I somehow called the movement BS by adding my perspective to a thread with such sentiments in the title. I was more offering support to the movement but also suggesting it's a much bigger issue, and something we should all discuss together.

Get a DNA test, everyone on this planet has African ancestors.

We're all black!

Ha! Yeah I read that DNA story. Now I want you to go to Scotland, there near the Skedaddle river and explain this to cousin Angus, the leader of the clan.
He would be interested in hearing your story. He enjoys a good laugh when he finds something funny. Of course you know, it was guys like him that prompted the building of
Hadrian's wall.
