(a) Blatche had a couple of good games last week, but other than that, he has been pretty average . . . over his last three games, for instance, he is averaging less than six pointson 40% shooting and 5 rebounds in about 20 minutes per game.</p>

Other than his first-round picks, Rod Thorn doesn't like to invest in young, unproven players that may need some time to develop. Instead of focusing on Blatche, you could point to the Nets' lack of interest in players like James White, Alexander Johnson, etc. as well--not to mention Robert Hite. They're all indicative of the same mindset. It has nothing to do with "failing" or "succeeding" in the offseason. It's an overarching policy at this point: The Nets prefer signing veterans to one-year deals hoping to find the magic formula that will put the team over the top. You can agree with it or disagree with it, you can call the policy a "failure," but I don't think you can call their failure to sign a particular player a "failure."</p>
© As shocking as it may sound, you can't sign a player unless he wants to be signed by you anyway.</p>
(d) I'm quite happy with Boone and Sean Williams in the frontcourt right now.</p>
