He is 27 years old, 3 years younger than HEDO TURKOGLU. Also he is available for dirt cheap! he could do great things at backup PF. Anyone disagree? He has been a pretty consistent backup his whole career! He could fit in here very well i think.

He brings nothing to the team that we don't already have.

Yes, he would be a steal for vet. min. But, we won't sign anyone to vet. min. or any other contract until we have caught our larger fish first.

(Of course, I don't think he signs for vet. min., but hopefully you get my point)

Yeah i understand get the goods first, but dont you think he would be a HUGE upgrade over Channing frye at backup PF?

He does great things? He'd be the last resort possible if we were desperate.

If KP signs him, obviously he sees the potential in Gooden. After all, he knows more than us all.

I wouldn't mind Gooden on a contract at some piece of the MLE, after a Hinrich deal.

If Portland ends up with Millsap, then there's no point to acquiring Gooden.

in all seriousness, gooden will be fine. he won't put us over the top but probably better than a rookie PF or Girly Arms Ruffin.

I would sign Gooden's beard to a 5 year/$50 mil deal. The rest of Gooden - someone else can have that.

well obviously millsap is better but millsap is just a decoy to get hinrich

I agree. Jerryd Bayless + Gooden's beard = prime Baron Davis.

I agree.

Gooden is not--and never will be--a great player. He's not very tough and he's not a good defender. He is a big body, though, who has offensive skills and I think that, for the right price he'd be a good addition.

Same reason no one else does. Dude is FUGLY.

I'm guessing it's because Drew Gooden sucks.

...because he has one of these!!!

Six teams in seven years. That speaks volumes. No thanks.

Honestly Drew is a solid player, and if he gets his minutes can be a double-double threat night in night out. Off the bench it obviously depends on minutes, but your probably looking at something like 7 and 5 or similar. On the face of it that looks like a decent deal, especially for a PF with experience of going to the Finals as a starter. However, when you actually watch him play basketball rather than look at the stats you will see the problem. He acts as though he has no idea what to do on defense. He gets lost on rotation, and will regularly lose his man for easy buckets. I would honestly say that he costs his team at least as many points as he scores, particularly when you factor in that other players may need to step off their man to cover what Drew's supposed to be doing as well. Don't get me wrong, he's a nice player who can do a job for you, but if there's one thing he won't do it's put you over the top (or even necessarily actually improve you).

Great post. Repped.
