I saw an article on O-Live earlier today about CJ saying Lillard was probably done in Portland, but then I come here and there’s not a single thread about it. I’m sure some moderator has buried it in some long group thread, but I couldn’t tell you which one, and I don’t feel like searching for it. There are probably five or six threads were it could have been stuck. This is the problem with group threads—interesting stories get buried on a regular basis.

Those videos of CJ and Dame's interviews are all over the trade and Dame threads already....posts don't have to be threads..CJ starts with a clear disclaimer before he speculates...no big deal...Dame discounted it ...O Live still exists? Shocking.

it's been mentioned about 2 dozen times in 4 or 5 different threads here

fortunately, everybody recognized two things: 1) it wasn't worthy of it's own thread because 2) CJ was talking out of his ass during performance art for Stephen A

You've never been opposed to making a lot of threads, so what made you hesitate on this one?

CJ isn't Dame's agent. He can't give us insight on any potential gossip surrounding Lillard. All he can do is rip on the Blazers, because he's done it before.

Just make a new thread
CJ HATES US
then start attaching videos

make sure to tag it with a fancy button, so blazerkor doesn't have a rampaging anxiety attack

Honestly, I would have had no problem with it being its own new thread. Dame's running mate for nearly a decade speculating that Dame is likely out is pretty significant.

I also think his speculation is hooey, but that's neither here nor there.

Getting ripped by people like you for starting a thread on something already being talked about.

Simply observing and offering a solution and was concerned as to why a thread wasn't made for that incident instead of this one. All it was.

I hate general threads. In my opinion, each thread should be about a topic and then if the topic isn't popular it'll float down and out of the main page.

That CJ's interview was mentioned in four or five threads shows that people wanted to talk about it, but I don't know where I'd go to discuss it without repeating myself. Is it on page 23 of one thread and 112 of another? Who knows?

Similarly, Chris Paul might be getting waived and I don't know where that's being discussed... maybe the catch-all NBA offseason thread that I never have read because it's got too many different topics in it?

That I hate general threads isn't terribly relevant, though, as a mod. I wasn't active for a few years and this seems to be the way the board has gone, so I wasn't about to come back in and start changing everything all around. For the record, though, I'd definitely prefer topic- and news-specific threads.

Doesn't seem like merging threads is all that big of a deal... We should encourage people to post.

If too many similar threads get going it seems like a mod merging them is better than people being hesitant to make a post.

Unless I'm wrong and merging threads is a more complicated than it seems.

It's very easy to do...sometimes less easy to defend.

CJ , instead of sticking up for Portland, as ScreaminA was belittling it, responds with something like , a lame ass " There's good wine country" , "it doesn't rain much in the summer". Thanks CJ. Then Screamin' A comes off like Nawlins is some kind of better NBA City than PDX. Get that weak stuff outta here. Portland is not a basketball Siberia Biotch.

Did any mod actually merge the CJ interview into an existing thread?

Merging threads should only occur when the OP is on the same topic, say, the same article, news, or tweet. Merging tangentially related topics or posting multiple tangentially related news items into a single long-ass thread with multiple new pages of posts a day to wade through buries the lead.

No, my understanding is this dude @Bingo Bango made this thread instead of a real one about the CJ interview.
I agree a clean CJ thread would have been my preference. But then, it is very likely he would have been bombed with the "that's already being discussed in other threads" attack. So, maybe he went for a pre-emptive strike.

Maybe but Mods don't merge shit because people like me whine a little in a thread about it being redundant unless it is completely redundant (let's say there were two threads about CJ's interview). Some want to be able to look in one thread to find out all of the pertinent info on a subject and some want it broken up into threads that contain small portions of that. Some of us can complain that we think the thread about the small portions wasn't necessary but that doesn't mean they should be merged.

See my post below yours. Black hole multi-topic megathreads have become the norm, perhaps in part because people often get flamed for starting new threads.

I just went through 2 months of the forum logs.

In that time only one Blazer thread has been merged.

The main thing staff does around here is delete personal insults.

Merging happens if more than one person makes the same thread at pretty much the same time in a Breaking News event or if the same person is making the same themed thread over and over.

For example, if Dame is traded I'm willing to bet that in the rush to post that on here more than one thread will be made. It's not a big deal, no one did anything wrong, but those will get merged into one thread.

But...

If an individual every couple of days keeps making the same thread about how Dame sucks and needs to be traded then we will eventually merge those multiple threads by the same person into one thread.

People complaining about things is one of the main functions of a forum and the internet. Don't let it get to you.
