The economy isn't a bigger problem..... nope.... that's not at all a problem. We didn't just go through a major recession.

Healthcare.... not a big problem that affects everyone.

Poverty..... not a big problem that affects everyone.

Nope, the biggest problem right now is 1,200 people, half of which were white, getting killed by the police. In some cases because of legitimate reasons. That's definitely the top priority right now in this country. I'm not saying it's not a problem, but he asked why I'm not out protesting with BLM and honestly it's because to me there are much more impactful issues.

Addressing one doesn't preclude the other.

There's a war on drugs and a war on black people in the streets of their hometowns at the same time. No reason to not do something about both.

The alternative is to really fight for the truly big stuff. The stuff that can trickle down into other areas of concern. Let's say you really fight to get rid of the war on drugs. Imagine the repercussions.

1. Less money for law enforcement. Less need for large police departments. No more DEA.

2. Less people in jail. More people out of jail. Lower cost to the tax payers. Less people who have their entire lives fucked up because of drugs.

3. Better help for addicts. Better rehab.

4. Less organized crime - which leads back into needing less police.

Also, since when has voting ever led to the right people? I think Trump/Clinton have pretty much disproved that idea.

This thread organically shifted in that direction.... but apparently I pissed off Dviss because I said that police shootings are lower on my list of problems in this country.

I get it, in this modern internet age where we get to see a lot of these shootings on video, it's easy to get extremely angry and passionate about police shootings. But 1,200 people total is small. There are 1.1 million cops in this country. Doesn't it stand to reason that there would be a small percentage that are nutjobs?

If 1,200 cops ended up shooting someone, that means 1,098,800 cops did NOT shoot someone. So only 0.001% of police in America killed someone. How can that possibly be the problem that it's being made out to be? if the media put out news stories about every single person that died from every single reason such as cancer, car accidents, suicide, choking on a piece of steak, etc..... this place would be an extremely depressing place to live.... or we would get desensitized to it.

Hate drugs, hate the war on drugs. That's a tough subject for me. Went into a beauty supply store with my wife a few weeks ago. I've been there a few times but not that often. We'd noticed that a "medical" Marijuana place went in a few doors down.

The beauty supply store now has cameras pointed everywhere and a bell on the door. Asked the girl at the counter about it and she asked if we'd seen the new store a few doors down.

I said "yeah, they come in here?"

She said "oh lord yes they come in and wander around acting weird and stealing stuff"

I've seen the dirtbags that hang out by these stores so I wasn't really surprised.

If prison didn't cost us anything I probably wouldn't care if they never got out. But it does.....
