I want A.F.Venom and all the other people who think Wayne is good to explain to me and give me songs to listen to which explain why Wayne is good. Everything I've heard of his seems to be terrible but apparently I've been listening to the wrong sort of music. He's even been dubbed the Tupac of this generation by some. Anyway, I'm willing to take this seriously and I will listen to any recommendations.

It's things like this that make me wonder why so many people think he's great, so please show me the stuff to listen to.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Weezy:</div><div class="quote_post">I rekindle the flame
She remember the name
It's Weezy Baby January December the same
Mama gimme that brain
Mama gimme that good

You hear the firetruck
</div>

That's actually one of the best verses he has. lol This guy is bad. He has a bunch of other stupid lines. Listen to Army Gunz, Stuntin like my Daddy and all his remixes.

I agree, he is awful and self proclaimed best since jigga retired.. my ass.......and no way was jigga ever the greatest

I like some of Lil'Wayne's songs, but he isn't the greatest. He is way over-hyped.

Is there a hidden message in that song? Lol.

When did I ever say he was "so good"? I just disagreed when you when you claimed he was crap and said he was the "Shawn Bradely" of the rap game...which is far from the truth.

He put out a really bad mixtape last year (Drought 3)..his guest features have been trash...there are some ok songs on his Carter 3 leak mixtape...But there is lots of nice music before all this.

Start off with these disks:
Tha Carter
Dedication I
Tha Carter II
Dedication II

I thought he sucked too, until I found myself loving the song "best rapper alive". I like when he says he's the heart of New Orleans. Then I heard some of his spoken bits and he seems like actually a cool cat. He even says he doesn't really think he's better than anyone else. His flow at first sounded weird to me, but then I started to like it. I don't know if i would say I'm a Lil Wayne fan, but I'd rather listen to him than The Game, Young Jeezy, and many others

Lil Wayne is the man, stop the hate people. Music will never be "good" or "bad". Accept it.

A lot of my friends listen to him and claim he's the best out now.

Personally, I don't see what's so good about him. Most of the things he says I struggle to find what they mean.

"Dear Mister Toilet, I'm the S**T" - what does that mean exactly
dunno.gif

Lil Wayne is to rap what Vanilla Ice was to hip hop.

Haven't heard the other full albums but I downloaded Tha Carter when it came out and it's utter crap. A line from "Cash Money Millionaires" stands out.

"<font face="Verdana"><font size="5"><font size="2"> I'm a ma ma mack mack
A pi pi pimp
I spi spi spi spit out shrimp
I pull out clean
I get out limp
I walk like li li li limp"
</font></font></font>

Anyone who says Lil' Wayne is good obviously doesnt know their sh*t.

Money On My Mind and Best Rapper Alive are both great tracks.
You guys care too much about lyrics.
You want to learn something, read a book.
You're supposed to feel music, not read it.

"bow wow wow yippee yo yipee yay doggy dog's definitely in the houusee" sounds pretty stupid written down too, doesn't it?

hip hop music is known for it's lyrics.
it's not hip hop without them

RAPPERS SPIT RHYMES THAT ARE MOSTLY ILLEGAL.
MC'S SPIT RHYMES TO UPLIFT THEIR PEOPLE!

Album is far from crap...you cited that same verse the last time this argument was going on.

I Miss My Dawgs
Bring It Back
BM JR
Earthquake
The Heat
Go DJ

the other tracks are listenable as well

Yeah I guess Jay-Z, Andre 3000, Kanye West, and 9th Wonder are just oblivious to hip hop aren't they? Your still stuck on people that like Wayne don't like "real" hip-hop? Please..

I'm not saying dude is a top notch lyricist or anything...but he makes good music...good hooks, good beats, and is good for a few quoatble punchlines.

All hip hop can't be all lyricism all the time...just like there is formula fiction that is still entertaining but there is great literature as well.

Yo Venom, what are your 5 favorite hiphop albums of all time, the ones you've listened to the most?

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Yo Venom, what are your 5 favorite hiphop albums of all time, the ones you've listened to the most?</div>
Ready To Die
Reasonable Doubt
I switch up Outkasts first three LPs from time to time in my top 5 (Southernplaya..., ATLiens, Aquemini)
Only Built 4 Cuban Linx
Illmatic

These aren't nessecarily the ones that I've played the most though...I had the blueprint instead of Illmatic at first, but I couldn't leave that...lol...and just to think last summer my favorite CD was actually Tha Carter II...things done changed

Lil Wayne is not an incredible rapper, but he isn't trash either. I like some of his stuff "n**** wit money", "where the cash at", etc. are good. He also has some good verses in remixes like "diamonds on my damn chain."

i'm not the biggest wayne fan, i don't think hes that great either, but i have a cousin who listens to him and i was with him this past weekend, lil wayne sounds hot in a car, he makes songs that you can blast in your car, they may not be lyrical but they sound cool

Venom that's a great list.

Mobb Deep - The Infamous...
Gang Starr - Moment Of Truth
Raekwon - Only Built 4 Cuban Linx
Talib kweli - Reflection Eternal
Ice Cube - The Predator

Honorable Mentions:

Dr. Dre - The Chronic
Nas - Illmatic
Tribe Called Quest - Midnight Marauders
Outkast - ATLiens

note how the newest one on here is like 7 years old. damn. WHERE ARE THE HIPHOP CLASSICS OF TODAY?

I never said "people who like Wayne dont like real Hip-Hop", I said if they think he is a good artist, then they obviously dont know their sh*t, about Hip-Hop. I honestly dont care that Jay-Z, Andre 3000, Kanye West, and 9th Wonder like him, have they actually ever come out and praised his lyrical skills? If not, they are likely talking about him in regards to a typical Rap artist point of view, in other words he is good with his ability to make $$$.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Ain't nobody fuckin with me man, Heatman

I'm passing em out now and you can't have that
Hear my chain, Toucan Sam that
Tropical colors you can't match that
Gotta be abstract
You catch my gal legs open betta smash that
Don't be surprised if she ask where the cash at
I see she wearing them jeans that show her butt crack
My girls can't wear that why that's where my stash at

I put my mack down that's where you lack at
She need her candlelit and I'ma wax that
I rekindle the flame

It wouldnt matter if Guru himself came out and said that Lil' Wayne was a great MC, I would still say he is wrong.

Lil' Wayne is terrible, he has no flow what so ever, he has lame punchlines, inane subject matter, weak multies, lets put it this way, he has less lyrical talent than 50 Cent, now thats saying somthing. I'd much rather listen to any 50 Cent joint where he talks about being "hot as a tea kettle" than stupid verses that dont even rhyme like "Mama gimme that brain, Mama gimme that good, Cause I'm the fireman, You hear the firetruck"

That line doesn't rhyme is you say it properly but he slurred the word and it rhymed....(you miss again)

Yup. Answer the question do Jay-Z, 9th, Ye, and 3000, not know "their sh*t"????

funny how people bring up Fireman all the time like that proves anything, dude has tons of material yet two people talk about the same song like it has defined the mans career...I promise you nobody is perfect. Every track isn't good. How much of his material have you hear NTC?

<div class="quote_poster">A.F. Venom Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">That line doesn't rhyme is you say it properly but he slurred the word and it rhymed....(you miss again)</div>

So what? It's still a very poor substitute and a very poor rhyme.

If thats the case, lets make anything rhyme, how about "fibreoptic" with "ice cream", sure, we can make it work if we say it a certain way. Poor lyricism either way, you find the words to fit the song, not make the words fit to find the song.

yeah, thread closed.

Pointless discussion, you're not going to change opinions here. Lil Wayne sucks hard, people know that...and some people choose to ignore that.

NTC wins.
