Why S2 and forums make it hard to be a fan

I will be sure to do that the first time I am ever sarcastic.

This post, for example.

I've been thinking more on this, and I think that forums and the anonymity of the internet do amplify and expose personal faults quite a bit. Just look at some of my ridiculous posts. But these are personal traits that are not caused by forums, just exposed. The quest to become a better person doesn't need to involve changing everyone else's habits to prevent your own faults from being exposed. That's not how it works.

The forum will not change for you. It was not made for you. It's not made for me, either. It is made for itself, and is inherently neutral. You want not to act like a grumpy gus debbie downer? That's not on us to facilitate.

Some of you guys are hilarious. this shit right here is why I read the intrawebs

She also played a baby with a dinosaur and a dinosaur such range too bad she gained 200 pounds eating all the good stuff out of the food boxes sent to Africa

I met her about 15 years ago and she was a very sensitive person then.

I think forums has only increased my fandom. It's tough to be a fan of the Blazers if you don't live in Portland.

I feel the same. I work at home and taking a break here is like my trip to the company water fountain or lunch room. Well, except that some of you guys are too weird to work at any company I'd be associated with. ;)

It's tough to be deeply involved in something if you don't have people to interact with about it.

Even in bend it was hard to talk blazers with all the Californian transplants. Now in south Carolina I'm surprised when people know the blazers are an NBA team. I agree its cool to read everyone's opinions and I like reading the posts people make with all the advanced stats I've never paid attention to.

People here in North Carolina at least know about Portland

A Knicks fan I work with didnt even know who Damian lillard was and I was like uh who won Rookie of the year last year? He thought Anthony Davis won.

I never stopped being a fan but the forums did change my rooting dynamic. I want the team to win every night but if they are going to struggle I want it to be completely obvious to all as to why it happened. By it becoming completely obvious then I feel like the team or player can address the a situation easier. Statistically speaking and in my opinion 22 foot jumpers are a bad shot. It is a problem that I can see potentially preventing the team from winning a title the ultimate goal of any season. Therefore, when I get called stupid or my opinion does I begin wishing for bad things to happen so that it becomes obvious to everyone that I was right and something needs to be done.

Still going to be a fan and cheer for the team but forums have changed my dynamic, I am no longer a child who just enjoys the game and cheering for the team. I have ideas an opinions about what can help the team win a title, when I am called dumb for sharing them and then the team does not win a title then I start to root for certain things to happen in a game.

I would love to be proved wrong and look like an idiot because that means the team has succeeded.

I think there are times it's good to be critical. As a matter of fact, there are times I'm critical of this team. And if you know anything about my history, you know I have been critical. But...

LA needs to be given a pass. You are talking about 22 foot jump shots. Look back to the way he played in the first half the season when it was he, Dame willing this team to victories. He was having the best year and is still having the best year of his career. He was MVP material. The bottom line is he got tired. He and the rest of this team, Are out of resources. I believe that is what is going into his behavior of extending his game outward instead of inward. This is the second year in a row the team has run out of gas. The reason why they have run out of gas is becuase the key components have 'run' out of gas.

On Damian...You trying to exploit a weakness of his without given him ample time to prove that he is committed to right the major weakness. And given time, I think he will. But you need to give the kid, which is what he is, he is still immature, time to grow and prove that he is the consumate professional and he will improve in time.

Your frustrations are all about the team and them not being ready to compete and win a championship now. You want it now. Not later, now.. It's called instant gratification. I would suggest looking at the team closely and using a lil perspective. I think you def have it in you. Don't allow the boredom to cloud your judgement. And think before you post.

Is S2 more than a forum? Why not just say "forums"... there was no reason whatsoever to say "S2 and forums" When they are one in the same.

But, it's not surprising you went that route either.

Was referring to more just S2 Olive ESPN blazers edge etc

That's what I'm saying. Just say forums... why did S2 have to get singled out? It made no sense.

it got singled out because it is the site I am most active on and the one I wrote the thread on.

You really need to not get so upset over shit people say to you.

Yet, it's a forum like all the others. Still didn't need to be singled out. It looked like a Fox News agenda move if you ask me. Just saying.

How was that upset clearly reading a few paragraphs was too much for him so I offered to dumb down my posting for him. Just trying to make my post accessible to everyone.

The internet does a lot of wonderful things, at anytime of the day I can log on and become totally immersed in sports, porn, or crazy cat videos. However, the internet also has a dark side to it, I am an opinionated bastard, so the lure of chat rooms and forums is too difficult to resist.

I love the Blazers have been a fan basically as long as I can remember. I watched basically every single Blazer game with my grandmother for years. Its was exhilarating and disappointing both but I always tuned in. My grandmother died, and I moved across the country, this made watching games live more difficult and my viewing audience changed as well. First it was Iamatrailblazerfan.com and the live game chats and then that went away and I transitioned over to S2.

I love Blazer fans especially the overt homers like Riverman, his positivism has kept me grounded for years. Whenever I would get too out of control, or suggest blowing up the entire team he would be there to offer encouragement about the team and back me off the ledge. Some of the homers on S2 are a different beast altogether. Some of these fans go to far, any criticism about the team and your automatically labeled a troll or an idiot.

I am a passionate person, but most of all I hate being wrong. If I write LA takes too many jump shots and then get called an idiot for saying it suddenly I am rooting for him to go 6-21 from the field. If I suggest the team does not play good defense, and people call me an idiot, I slowly begin to relish watching the team give up 120 a night. Yes I say some outlandish things, trading Lillard and Matthews for Conley and Allen for example. I still love both of those guys and they play terrific defense but I am big enough to admit that trading a all star PG still in the middle of a rookie scale contract might not be the best plan. However, I also have a lot of reasonable takes, for example my fix the Blazers thread.

Here is what I am asking from my fellow S2 users, stop attacking people and stop attacking peoples posts. 90% of most responses on this forum are very generic one line comments that rarely discuss basketball. Hate someones posts, think what they wrote is stupid, man the fuck up do some research and show them through logic, stats and basketball terminology why they are a moron. You provide sound arguments in a reasonable manner slowly you will win people over. I do not always agree with Riverman but whenever he writes something I give him the courtesy of reading what he writes and responding in kind.

I am sick of finding myself rooting against my favorite team in order to prove a point on the internet. I love the Blazers, I love talking basketball, but I am beginning to hate what my interactions on forums like this one are doing to me. I may have directed the focus of this thread towards homers, but all you the world is ending or blatantly negative posters need to stop your shit too. If you have a take back it up with research, good writing, basketball knowledge and facts. However, make sure you remember you are also claiming to be a fan of this team, take a second and enjoy life when things go well. MOST OF ALL ADMIT WHEN YOU MAKE A FUCKING MISTAKE OWN IT EAT YOUR CROW AND MOVE ON.

Lastly, for all you long time posters remember this is not your fucking forum anymore, it is the official forum of the Trailblazers. Noobs will come and they will go but as the longest tenured members here you should be the most welcoming. If you do not want new posters, by all means tell Slypokerdog and I am sure Portland can find a forum who would be happy to welcome new members.

Go Blazers!!!!

TL;DR plus the post just looks annoying so probably was.
