Statistically - teams in the Mavs situation go on to win the series at an alarming rate (over 70%)

Also - a description of Roy's quarter as not just being amazing for his career - but being amazing for anyone's career - an absolutely rare instance of dominance during such a short period.

How amazing was that?
Ridiculous. Roy had 21 points, five assists, two rebounds and no turnovers, and he missed only two shots. That would have been a pretty awesome game; the fact he did this in a little over a quarter was stunning.

So is the fact that there were only 22 Blazers possessions in this span. Roy produced a basket, either by score or assist, on 14 of them, and was responsible for just two empty trips. On Saturday I tweeted Roy's player efficiency rating for the final 12:45, but upon review I actually shortchanged him a bit. His mark for that stretch was an incomprehensible 89.68, or roughly triple what a typical MVP winner might post. Per 40 minutes he averaged 67 points, 16 assists and no turnovers.

In a nutshell, then, this wasn't just the best quarter of Roy's career; this was the best quarter of just about anybody's career.

i love this "Per" analysis

Small sample size anomaly. Whatever.

this wasn't just the best quarter of Roy's career

Is that his subjective opinion or did he run all Roy quarters through the computer? Because Roy has had some very big quarters. Prove you did, Hollinger. Tell us Roy's 2nd-biggest quarter.

That's easy; Phoenix in December 2008, fourth quarter.

Also, didn't Martell's Utah quarter outscore Roy's Dallas quarter? :devilwink:
