Why does the distaste of his banning seem more political driven?

Because people are calling for majority votes to ban people?
Or perhaps it was very much one person with the power to do something flaunting it over someone with no power.

I do to know papag as well as some of you, and haven't been here near as long. That being said what happened I. That other thread shouldn't have gotten papag banned imo.

Papag is welcome to post on my Milwaukee bucks forum anytime, with no scrutiny.

You'll see the same thing in any group situation where debate is present. Basically anytime there are 2 different views on a common ground.

You are spot on with that one less person to go to war with comment.

I think papag should be unbanned because he really didn't even do anything imo. Said something he maybe shouldn't have and tried to let it go.

Unfortunately, I didn't see what he did so I can't agree or disagree. But I trust those doing the moderating and if they felt he was bad enough to ban who am I to question it?

Papa G like I said is very likeable but I think he needs to control his emotions.

I agree, I would feel the same if crandc were banned in such an intolerant unilateral way.

For the record, PapaG was the ONLY person here on my ignore list. His posts were truly awful, in so many ways.

PapaG was great he was easy to rile up and was always around to argue with you. He like Blazerfanatic before him made this site entertaining for those of us who would rather trade barbs than run away and cry when someone is mean.

if people used perspective and stepped back they would realize that it's the same people getting banned (That were regulars) or people intentionally trolling in the beginning of their stay here.

The way I see it, I think the people with an anger towards authoritative figures have more of an agenda here than the mods and the perceived "agenda" they have for just being human beings.

I have been "handling" people like Papa for over five years. How many people have I banned? How many have I suspended?

I get that you're upset with me. I tried to apologize. If that's not enough for you, I don't know what else to say.

One suspension is too many. You could always resign as a mod that is more than an apology. Either that or just move on and embrace being the bad guy.

Trading barbs and smack talk has always been welcomed and encouraged. What is not welcome here are personal insults. You seem to have a very difficult time differentiating this. If your main purpose is to rile people up and argue with them this in not forum for you.

That certainly does not sound like PapaG he seemed like he was here to talk the Blazers and spread the virtues of republicanism while occasionally insulting, and often riling and arguing/ debating with people.

First, I like PapaG and we have already made plans to get together for beers next month. I'm not here to slam on the guy.

PapaG along with a few others have a problem with personal insults. He has been suspended and banned previously for insulting people he disagrees with. Each time he has come back he has told me that he would not do that anymore. In the Embiid thread he and Mediocre Man got into once again. Post after post of trading insults. Honestly I should have suspended both them but I didn't because I didn't feel like getting into a long drawn out discussion and debate about what a power hungry asshole I am. So instead I edited all of the insults and was glad that they took the hint and stopped.

Except they didn't stop. Mediocre Man was PM'ing telling me that because I edited one of his posts he is leaving and never coming back. PapaG is complaining that I edited more posts of his than I did of MM's. And then I discover hours later that they didn't stop arguing and insulting they just moved it to a different thread.

Nate was on vacation and when he came back he saw all of this. Arguing/debating with someone in this forum is fine. It's one of the things that make forums fun. Nate and PapaG were having an argument/debate. There is nothing wrong with that. PapaG then posted a personal insult. Nate decided enough was enough. PapaG when he was un-banned the last time was told not to do that again. He did many many times and finally someone did something about it.

Nate did nothing wrong. Yes, Nate was arguing with PapaG but Nate was not personally insulting him or his family. There is a difference.

Now, I am not unreasonable. I don't like seeing PapaG get banned. I actually like the guy and a lot of his takes on basketball and politics. I have brought back PapaG from being permanently banned before. I could be talked back into bringing back PapaG from being banned this time but that is up to some of you. Are any of you going to step in when he is getting riled up and starting to insult someone? Are you going to tell him in the thread or via PM to mellow out? Are you only going to complain about how unfair and how much Nate and I suck or are you going to help and try to defuse things?

I treat this forum like a community and I treat all of you with respect as members of that community. That is what I am asking of you too. Will you be part of the solution or will you only sit back and complain when something happens that you don't like?

I agree with moving on but I just want to say it doesn't bother me when people disrespect me. It's when people insult S2/RC2 members is when I get irritated. It's part of the staff's duty to make the forum fun and the conversation flowing. Members insulting members (insert penis joke here) makes this forum not fun for the people being insulted or everyone else who has to read it.

It seems to me the staff(1) was primed and ready, even goaded the man on.
My first encounter with Nate was not so great, now I am convinced he is a bully with a hammer.

I would fire his ass, might make a better man than what we get. One member of the staff tried to talk him down but Nate ignored the suggestion.
Overall, I rate the performance, poor.
