NO OIL WAR!
Nothing wrong with an oil war.
That's not the war that we're fighting.
We went after 1 head of the Axis of Evil monster.
Why? Who f'ing knows.
Should have left Saddam alone and seized the oil fields. Drained that country dry. Kept 30% of the money for our trouble and expenses and deposited the 70% in the bank for the Iraqi people.
Just should have sat on the oil fields and shot anything coming at us. After the Iraqi people got rid of Saddam and decided on a new leader (and whatever form of government they want) then they can claim some of the money we're holding for them. If the money is actually reaching the majority of the people they can eventually have all of it.
That's how you fight an oil war. The shit we're doing in Iraq makes ZERO SENSE. We're actually trying to force them to be a democracy. WTF?!? Democracy is earned, it's not given. They have to want it, not be told that's what they get. We went into Baghdad and have turned the worlds greatest fighting force into a police force/baby sitters/sitting ducks.
Sad.

I don't think the US is favored by God or anything like it. Just that we have a big military and have the moral authority to use it to help people using it. Hence the reason we develop smart weapons and use them to not target civilians, for example. Or that we don't invade and occupy other nations to increase some empire, for example.
First, what other than God or anything like it is professed to determine moral authority? The majority of Americans are believers and they determine their moral values through indoctrination by way of divine inspiration. Thus, for you to claim the U.S. is a moral authority is only to say that the majority of Americans who share this belief do so on account of their God. A moral authoritarian cannot obscure divinity in the society we live in. Our wars are our God's wars for the majority.
Second, welcome to the age of information and the 21st century. Empires are not measured by controlled territory; they are more smartly measured by control of resources and influence which require no such thing as prolonged sovereign governing. Theoretically, we fight a war to destabilize a region in order to speculate on resources. We gain influence naturally through economic terms. We effectively establish control of a new sphere of influence for our political/religious/economic empire without realigning borders. I thought this stuff was obvious.

Haha. I've not changed one bit.
My posts are still well reasoned.
