Jason Hammel 32 year old RHP with a career mark of 58-69 with a 4.68 ERA earning $6M this season.

Jon Lester 30 year old LHP with a career mark of 113-64 making $13M this season.

Max Scherzer 30 year old RHP with a career mark of 87-49 making $15.5M this season.

James Shields 33 year old RHP with a career mark of 112-88 making $12M this season.

Me, I say no on Hammel & though I'd love to have him, no also on Scherzer. He made no secret at the beginning of the season that he's looking for AT LEAST $25M per. I'd be okay with either Lester or Shields but I'd lean toward Lester because he's 3 years younger & he's a lefty.

...I've always liked Shields...picking up Lester would be great.

I'd still like to bring McCarthy back also & if we can get one of the two (Shields / Lester) then use Nova as trade bait.

Next season =

Tanaka
Sabathia
Lester
Pineda
McCarthy

CF - Ellsbury
2B - Prado
LF - Gardner
1B - Teixeira
RF - Beltran
DH - A-Rod
C - McCann
3B Headley
SS - Cabrera / Lowrie

I'd be OK with Lester, Scherzer, & Shields... McCarthy I'd only do a 1 or 2 year deal to ensure this isn't a flash in the pan...

I'd have to stay away from Max, as I mentioned he's going to be looking for a 8-10 year deal in excess of $200M. I just can't see the Yankees EVER giving that kind of deal away with the bad history they've had. Remember Cano? If they didn't give it to him they won't give it to Max. And I agree.
