If the Raptors don't think they can re-sign Bosh, they might purse a sign-and-trade deal, rather than lose him as a free agent without getting a player in return.

That scenario is the most likely method for the Blazers to acquire Bosh. But Portland likely would have to be willing to break up its young nucleus of Brandon Roy, Greg Oden and Aldridge.

Any trade with Toronto would likely start with Aldridge. The two players are similar in height, weight and age. But that's where the similarities end.

Bosh is a definite upgrade over Aldridge, but it depends on what else Toronto would want.

There are not many teams out there that wouldn't go after Bosh if he was available, I have no idea why they singled the Blazers out in particular here, besides Bosh being in town.

LMA and Bosh are friends. I doubt Bosh would agree to a sign and trade where his good friend would wind up in a place where he himself is trying to get the hell out of. So unless Bosh can play 25 minutes a game at the 3 then i see no option here.

I noticed that ESPN has a story on the same thing. Anybody with Insider access want to give us a synopsis of what they have to say?

It would have to be Bosh for LaMarcus and something else of value. Rudy or Batum seem the most likely, and as much as the Raptors love international players, either of them would probably be welcomed by Colangelo.

Are either of those combinations worth Bosh? I'm not sure.

Once again, it really doesn't matter. The GM's aren't friends.

They just quoted the O-Live story.

Give them Aldridge and/or whatever they want sans Roy (Knowing they wouldn't want Oden)

Bosh and Roy together would be mental.

Here ya go.
Life in Raptorland is not good these days and as the season winds down, many in Toronto are wondering if Chris Bosh's days in Canada are coming to an end. There has been a lot written about what Bosh might do as well as the clubs best suited for him including the Knicks, Nets, Heat, Bulls, Mavericks and Thunder. Geoffrey C. Arnold of The Oregonian thinks the Blazers should go after Bosh if he's going to leave the Raptors.

Arnold writes: "If the Raptors don't think they can re-sign Bosh, they might pursue a sign-and-trade deal, rather than lose him as a free agent without getting a player in return. That scenario is the most likely method for the Blazers to acquire Bosh. But Portland likely would have to be willing to break up its young nucleus of Brandon Roy, Greg Oden and LaMarcus Aldridge. Any trade with Toronto would likely start with Aldridge. ... The Blazers currently have too many big men, but the roster could certainly change during the summer. Oden is expected to return for the start the 2010-11 season, but Joel Przybilla, who re-injured his knee two weeks ago, may not be available to start the season, and Marcus Camby will be a free agent this summer. Acquiring Bosh is worth looking into, isn't it?"

Pretty much what this thread already had posted...

How sad is it that anywhere in the country any website or paper could quote a "Blazer Insider" like Canzano or Dwight Jaynes and think it's a legit source. Kinda scary!

Bosh would be such a significant upgrade that I would be willing to give up Rudy and a pick in addition to Aldridge to get Bosh. The guy is a pretty big competitor, something very different than Aldridge.

Well this is Geoffrey Arnold, but point taken.

How can it not matter? Is Bosh not a UN-restricted free agent? If he is, then he and his agent will be calling the shots. Not the GM's. Bosh has too many options then to screw over his friend. Unless LMA wants to go there. But why would he if he thinks Bosh so desperately wants out?

I think he'd like Freeland.

Claver and Bargnani have too similar skill sets.

Maybe Aldridge wouldn't think it's such a raw deal to be the #1 option on his own team. Might be kind of nice for him to emerge from Roy's shadow. I wouldn't want to go there if I were Aldridge, but I don't have the ego of an NBA player drafted at #2.

Rudy + Aldridge for Bosh makes a fair amount of sense for both teams. They'd get more overall quantity of talent, but we'd get the best player.

Man, we'd have an insanely good rebounding team if Oden comes back to full health.

I am ALL for Aldridge/Rudy/picks to get Bosh. Then all we need is a long term answer at the point and a backup big and we're back in business.

Miller/Jaybay
Roy/Martell
Batum/Dante
Bosh/??
Oden/Pryz or Camby?

I realize that, I'm just saying, that Arnold is a cool guy, but just does generic fluff pieces. He has no "inside" info. Which made me think about how anybody can claim they are a team expert and get quoted in storiees on the other side of the country. Then board geeks take it as gospel.

i might be in the minority, but I'm ready to move on without CB. I kinda want us to miss the playoffs so we get our pick.

I disagree. I would remove Batum from the "whatever they want sans Roy".

I think LMA + Batum > Bosh, at this point, and even more-so in the future, as Batum progresses.

Roy, Batum and Oden should not be moved for Bosh, imho - unless it is just Oden and you pair LMA at the 5 with Bosh - which, quite frankly, would be very good as well.

I still think however that the risk/reward with Oden is worth the risk - because if he does pan out - watch out.

Even though Portland has no cap space this year I do think they are going to be players in the offseason. Sign and trades can work into Pauls deep pockets quite nicely.

I agree on all of this.

3-Team deal:

Wade to Toronto

Aldridge + Blazer draft pick, to Miami

Bosh (sign and trade) to Portland

done.

Eveyone wins, based upon what Toronto and Miami "could lose" if their players bolt.

PS: This especially well if Lebron stays in Cleveland - because if he does stay, the talk of Lebron joining Wade, etc. are over.

would you take lamarcus, rudy, and 2 first rounders for bosh?

Bear in mind that Aldridge will be a BYC player. If you're going to include him in a deal, the Blazers would only get to count 1/2 of his salary. Toronto would be under the cap so that wouldn't be a problem on their end, but the Blazers would have to include more than Rudy's contract to make it work. LA, Rudy & Joel?
