I would hope so. What's the point to bring in a true rebounding center if you're going to stick him behind Juwan Howard?

Yes. He should start from day one as a Blazer.

Ed O.

Yep he will start. No brainer.

He will bring a solid basketball IQ to the starting lineup.

The other thing it does is allows Juwan Howard to go back to being a 2nd unit guy, helping that unit function better too. Both units basketball IQ just went up.

Now that Blake is gone, does this mean we can try to run now?

He will start, yes.

Back to the bench for Andre Miller. At least Camby averages the same number of assists as Blake.

Miller and Camby played together for 3 years in Denver. Miller will have better chemistry with him then he does have currently with any other player on the Blazers. No reason not to start him.

I think without a doubt. Now with that said who starts tonight at SG with Roy apparently not playing and Blake now gone? Bayless? Rudy? Batum?

Dumb question. The guy is 2nd in the league in rebounding and 6th in block shots and we desperatly need a big man. Of course he's going to start!

I'd completely forgotten that they were teammates in Denver - that makes it an even better acquisition.

He fuckin' better - IMMEDIATELY. If Nate jerks him around like he did Miller, I'll be pissed. We only have 27 games left in the season. There is no time to "take it slow" and ease him onto teh starting line-up. Camby doesn't demand a lot of touches. So, we won't have to change our offense to accommodate him. Put him in the starting line-up and move forward. Anything else is a waste of time and will end up costing us games we could win. Do it and do it now. We traded for him because we need a starting center, not a back-up.

That was a long time ago. I disagree that Miller will have better chemistry with Camby then the guys he's been playing and practicing with for the past 5 months. It will be easier for them to get back in a groove because they played together.

is this thread for real?

will he start? no they like howard. are you kidding me? its like asking if the nets make the playoffs.

Pretty much. He is our best chance at clogging the middle, grabbing rebounds, oh, and also making sure we secure the rebounds on missed free throws by the other team. Howard has been great for us, but at this point Camby > Howard.

I don't think Marcus starts for a few games. Nate likes to ease players in and Camby is going to need some practices under his belt.

With 27 games there is no time to "ease him in". We don't run any plays for our centers anyway. Just put him out there and let him do what he does - rebound and defned the paint. It's not rocket science. The guy is in his 14th NBA season. I'm sure he can figure things out. The sooner the better.

Agreed. We still need Roy though. :(

Good thing the Hornets will still be missing Paul for a few games, hopefully Amare is traded for garbage and that Memphis keeps losing.

I stated what I thought Nate would do, not what I would do.

I don't see why he wouldn't....I'm happy with the trade, it makes sense for both teams and everyone can re-sign with their respective teams next year. I want to see some balls flying after being swatted.

Are you saying that Camby has a higher basketball IQ than Howard does? Hmm...I will have to respectfully disagree on that one.

They are probably about the same. Both guys have been in the league for a long time and have a lot of experience to draw off of. But Camby, has been to the finals and many, many playoff battles.

My main thing is, by allowing Howard to move back to the bench, it stabilizes the bench.

We just went from having one of the least experienced front courts in the league, to having one of the most experienced. It is that simple

The guy starts from day one and immediately becomes our second or third best player.

2006 was the last year they played together.

Hardly a long time ago.
