no, the brass wants to remain flexible this offseason to be able to land a max guy
Postponing his extension will not give us more space this summer.
His caphold if we don't extend him will be ~9 mil (unless we waive his bird rights, which we won't do).
ahh You're right. It's 6.5 mil. 300% of his current salary.

• 2005 CBA: A cap hold of 150 percent to 300 percent continues to count against the team's cap for its free agents who have Bird rights or were first-round picks. A team has seven days to match an offer sheet to its restricted free agent. Qualifying offers to restricted free agents are based on the player's draft position.
• 2011 CBA: Cap holds are reduced for most players who have Bird rights or were first-round picks, and now range from 150 percent to 250 percent. Teams have three days to match an offer sheet to its restricted free agent. Players can qualify for a better qualifying offer by meeting certain criteria. High-drafted players might receive a lower qualifying offer by failing to meet the same criteria.
Ok guys, if we decide to wait and match this summer what do you think is the highest offer is he might get? 40 mil - 4 at 10 per sound about right?

Wow that much? I don't agree. That's about 9.2 million per year. I am thinking about hoping it's around the same amount as Wes Matthews. Maybe front loaded please.
He'll get AT LEAST Arron Afflalo money, I can guarantee it. 5 years 43 million. He might get more.
I'm not fully up to speed on the new CBA rules, but I'm pretty sure that the only team that can offer him 5 years is the Blazers.

So roughly 8.3 per?

No I get that, I don't agree with it. I still think 6.5-7.5 should be the threshold.
I guess it all depends on the kind of year he ends up having. Right now, he's doing two things at an elite level for the small forward position. That's block shots (and his overall defense is pretty good too) and shoot the three ball ... teams will frequently pay a premium for a guy who can do that.
He's also ignored on offense despite being more than adequate doing things other than shooting threes. Teams will scout that and pay him accordingly.
