Imagine the Pelicans stayed even remotely healthy. They would have a starting lineup of
Jrue Holliday
Eric Gordon
?? Tyreke Evans?
Anthony Davis
Omer Asik

That's pretty fucking good. Last season they didn't get much out of Gordon or Holliday and they didn't have Asik. Davis was good, but I think he's at a disadvantage if he plays C too much, because he's skinny. He's KG version 2.0. Everybody says he's just about to take The Leap, and watching him play for the US, it's hard to disagree. Thoughts?

That's a whole shit ton of injury-prone-ness.

Sure, if they can stay healthy, they should have a good season, but that's a huge fucking "if".

Thoughts?

Adding Asik will be like us adding Rolo last year, vaulting them into a playoff spot.

For the Blazers, another year of chemistry with a bolstered/developed bench will ensure we are the better squad overall.

Good starting lineup but ours is better. We'v got a better bench as well. Also we have shown we can be a good team, the pelicans have shown nothing but flashes so far.

Anthony Davis is the truth. Omar Asik is a fine defensive player, a net negative on the offensive end. The other three players are very flawed even when healthy.

Maybe that lineup will come together better than I expect, but I think they still need Davis to develop a bit more to his (inevitable, IMO) superstar prime and surround him with a better supporting cast. The team reminds me of the Cavs in LeBron James' first few years, except Davis isn't James yet.

I think the pelicans will be one hell of a defensive team. If they had a defensive minded coach they would definitely be dangerous.

Who knows, they may surprise everyone this year, especially if Davis can stay healthy.

EG and tyreke are CTC types, no way

That's true, but the other three starters are all arguably top 5 defensive players at their positions. If Monty can get EG and TE to play semi-efficient offense, that starting 5 will be pretty darn good.

What are you talking about FAMS?!? Coach Monty preaches nothing but defense!

Dare I ask which team has the better front court?
Anthony Davis & Omar Asik or LaMarcus Aldridge & Robin Lopez

Based on past performance, still gotta go with the Blazer duo. But if you're asking who will be better this coming season--assuming good health--I'd probably go with Omie and Anthony.

all this said, AD could become the type of player that carries any team to the playoffs as early as next year. Future is definitely bright.

I'll take our starting five over the Pelicans all season long.

They have Ryan Anderson their bench is better.

Anderson is good but thats another often injured guy and he is good but how good will he be with avg 25m off the bench? also who else is on there bench, any notable besides Anderson?

Unibroe is pretty fantastic; I won't put it past him to carry the Pelicans.

Austin Rivers

He's ahead of where CJ is at

They've also got the Jimmer and Whitey. Their backup 1-5 are younger and whiter than ours.

I don't see color. People tell me Steve Blake is white and I believe them because he's slow.

Austins pretty terrible. Id take CJ over him in a second but Austin is a third year player who should get around 15-20m a game vs a second year player who missed a good portion of his first year and probably wont avg over 10m this season without a major injury.

I try not to get caught up in your arguing and what not. But holy shit, this is asinine. Have you ever watched Austin Rivers play in the nba?

I'd trade CJ for Rivers

CJ's upside is limited. He's not that athletic, his ball handling is just okay and he has no real position.

Rivers' biggest con is that he's still learning the game. Only 1 year in college. He has good size for his position, has a quick first step and is a good ball handler.

Rivers will have the better career.

All those things apply just as much to Rivers.

I think CJ is going to turn some heads this season.

There's room on the CJ Train RoyToy when you change your mind.

Choo! Choo!

This sounds familiar... Roy and Lillard had the same comments after they were drafted. We got a problem getting players people think are peaked right out of college!
