Based on what you believe will happen RIGHT NOW, let's say you bet everything you own on the answer. So don't bet on what you WANT to happen, bet on what you REALLY BELIEVE is most likely.

We saw the 8 seed last night. They weren't wearing black.

I wonder how long it'll be before someone says that posts like this is why the Blazers can't attract top name free agents, and that people who voted no are bad fans.

I say by the end of the day, this thread gets hijacked by a debate about that instead of discussing the merits of people believing the team will miss the playoffs (which isn't saying they necessarily *want* them to miss the playoffs).

What kind of board is this that rather than discuss the topic of a thread, we end up talking about the eventual direction of the thread? This is why Jody is unwilling to spend money on this team!

I don't see us making it now. Memphis is almost a lock.

If Memphis wins tonight it puts us 5 back in the loss column with 26 games to play. The two teams have yet to play each other and have 3 matchups remaining so it's possible Portland could sweep all 3 which would do a lot to close the gap. It just doesn't feel like Portland has it in them without Super-Nuclear Dame. That stretch where he went crazy had them at 7-3 over a 10 game stretch. Without him going hot-lava, the Blazers are 18-27.

Sadly, that stretch put them likely out of reach of a decent Lottery pick but they aren't quite good enough to make the Playoffs and if they do, will be quickly dispatched by the Lakers unless they suffer a big time late season injury. #Purgatory

I think it's fairly likely that both New Orleans and San Antonio pass us in the standings, and fairly unlikely that anyone drops. So I say we end up at 11th in the West.

Perhaps you didn't know that Memphis is actually good?
They are. So is New Orleans. Probably better than Memphis (Pels are 2-0 v the Grizz so far). And NO's schedule is massively easier.

The Pels. I can see them making a run of like 8 or 10 straight wins.

When Dame is playing at super-human levels Portland is a very solid team. When he isn't they are a trainwreck.

I think It's between NO and Memphis. I think Memphis is better than New Orleans though. Ja Morant is for real, and I don't trust Zion's health at all. Just because NO seems to have the Blazers number I don't know if they're really that good.

The Blazers have to make the playoffs after keeping Whiteside and not ducking the tax.

Since they were so concerned about saving $2 million in the Skal trade, I'd hate to see what happens if they miss out on the revenue of at least 2 playoff home games.

Look at who has the easiest schedule, vs who has the hardest schedule.

Yeah, MEM is about to hit a littany of tough opponents. Portland could catch up (if Dame goes SuperHero again) but after a very slow start, NOP has been playing very well. Add Zion into that mix and even though they have a little farther to go than the Blazers to catch up, they are playing better than Portland of late and have an even easier schedule.

I just think Portland is so reliant on Dame to be their superhero, he's going to be ran into the ground during the stretch run.

I think we got chance if Nurk and Zach come back. But if they decide to put both of them for remaining of the season I am going with the pelicans to get the 8 seed.
