Anyone installing it today? I've been running the beta on one of my computers with no problems. Usually I'll wait a little while before installing the latest OS to make sure the bugs are worked out but I think I'll go for it as soon as it's available. Not too worried, Windows 8 64bit drivers will work on Windows 10.

I think my wife's laptop get's it today for free. I'll install it. Otherwise my other PC, I have to buy it. Probably roll with the Pro edition or some shit, unless I get the enterprise edition from work or another work friend...

Mainly I want to see if I can get it at work and setup some VDI XenDesktops with it quick and easy.

I have the beta on a small tablet - and I will be updating an old desktop today. If all goes well for a week or so - will start putting it on my newer machines.

I signed up for the upgrade, but I doubt I'll be taking advantage of it any time soon. I do telework a couple of days a week and there is no way I can afford to have something wonky turn up with ArcGIS, Erdas or Ecognition.

I'll keep my eye on it and see how it matures, but I have no intention of being MS' guinea pig.

Most of the stuff I had on it before works fine, although I had to install an older version of Itunes.

after downloading and installing and utilizing there easy open settings toolbars and such do not immediately run a registry cleaner. my big mistake had to finally go into cleaner to reopen;reinstall registry keys. windows was up and running but the toolbar access didn't work anymore when clicking on the icons to access web. every thing seems to function now. denny's idea of changing/editing individual keys is likely the correct approach not dumping them all like I did

My old desktop was fine after yesterday's upgrade - so I put it on my notebook today. So far, fantastic. I am going to keep my main desktop in Windows 8.1 for a little while longer - but everything seems to be going pretty smooth here and it is kind of fun to talk to my notebook for some of the stuff via Cortana. If they can just provided a deeper SDK that Apps can use the voice input as well - it would be fantastic. I would love to talk to my text editor for some stuff (performing search and formatting in code, for example).

Wasn't a huge fan of 10 for the quick 5 minutes I spent on it.

Now that Windows 10 has arrived, OS X finally has a serious rival for the title of world's best desktop-laptop operating system, but OS X is still in the lead. El Capitan improves on Yosemite's already-strong coherence and integration. All the built-in apps look and work in similar ways, and with easy automatic exchange of data between, for example, mail messages and the calendar. Windows 10 offers a confusing mix of up-to-date tablet style and traditional desktop-style interfaces. Apple hasn't wavered in its commitment to separate OSes for traditional keyboard-and-trackpad-or-mouse machines and for touchscreen tablets and phones. Microsoft offers a single OS for all platforms that, to me at least, still doesn't feel entirely at home on touchscreen devices. El Capitan and iOS 9 share closely similar features, but each is optimized for its own interface, and together they seem to me to confirm that Apple still has it right. Microsoft, despite the great advances in Windows 10, still hasn't mastered the problem of writing one OS for multiple platforms.

Until you're editing some wave files and it decides it's upgrading like it or not erasing what you spent 20 minutes trying to get right

I have a list of reasons why I will stick with XP for the main process. I may be forced into 10 for internet access at some point but I guess that means running two systems.

Win 7 - 10
Makes all my serial ports not work. I use six.

I have one program to decode Weather fax that runs on XP, I need a new one at $300 to run it on 7 - 10.

I use a Radio management program the uses a USB Audio system to decode and code voice to digital. that works fine with XP. It doesn't work at all with 8, slow with 7 and 10.

Everything I run works fine with XP and it took a long time to make that happen. Looks like Verizon will eventually force me to use a later system for browser access though
although I am switch the Wifi to T-mobile, that will take care of that for awhile.

Oh, I have a foil (NACA) analysis program that works on XP. No chance to get an upgrade to work on 7-10.

I bought a new laptop with 10 on it. So far I'm just lukewarm on it. The search from the taskbar feature is pretty good, but I've found switching between audio inputs/outputs fails to work as it should (A Corsair USB headset with a mic and the built-in speakers) and the start menu is kinda shit.

Also I'm pretty sure I hate how MS seems to feel entitled to all of my personal data now. It took way more steps to lock stuff down than is reasonable.

Windows 10 still gives me pop ups wanting me to install it. Why are they pushing free windows so hard these days? It used to cost a butt load back in the day, it was almost worth it to wait until you upgraded your PC to upgrade the OS. Is apple destroying Microsoft that hard or something? I find it weird that they want me to install windows 10 so bad, I'm perfectly happy with Windows 8...
