And we'll only be a half game behind Warriors. If we win, it looks like this:

1. Warriors 23-5
2. Trail Blazers 24-7

I think Philadelphia has won 2 in a row too, and all their wins have been road wins. The Blazers better be up for this game, instead of pulling what they did against Minnesota.

That and being the first game home from a brutal road trip also hurts.

That and a home game coming after a holiday. Home team sitting around the house focusing on family while stuffing their faces, while the road team is bonding together and only focusing on the game......I am partially joking, but it does seem like road teams come out more focused after a holiday. (Not necessarily on a holiday)

You know, I defended Batum last season because I didn't mind him being a glue guy that does everything. This season he has just been sooooo bad though. I don't know if it's an injury, exhaustion, or maybe apathy.

Last year through 31 games none of our starters had missed a game due to injury. If Batum sits tonight, we will have lost 13 starter-games to injury. The exact some number of starter-games we lost to injury all last season.

Last year we got off to a great start due to a favorable schedule and perfect health. I think we also took a lot of teams by surprise. This year, we aren' taking anyone by surprise, we're battling though the injuries and winning tough games on the road. The records may be the same (if we win tonight), but the results are much more impressive this year than last.

...and for many games this season, it was roundly bemoaned that the Blazers weren't playing their best ball....

It evened out by the end.

Interesting stats on Wessy: this season he's shooting the best of his Portland career (47.7%); it's not that he's shooting threes any better (39.2%, same as last season), but he's killer from two (59.1%!) with that refined post-up game he has. He's also playing the best defense of his career.

The goal isn't for Dame to get great statistics. The goal is to win the games.

Yes we are undefeated without Batum... I don't expect that to last, mostly because Lopez is also out.
