Ed Davis sat at the dining room table of his Forest Heights home with a Christmas tree sparkling in the background and the cutest little baby boy you've ever seen bouncing on his knee.

It was a few days before Christmas and Davis, who became a father to twin boys last April, was chatting about the joys of fatherhood and his affinity for Portland, when he halted the conversation with his best impersonation of the Grinch.

"Santa Claus is not real," he said, cradling his son in his arms.

If you thought Davis, the hustle and muscle behind the Portland Trail Blazers' front line, was ruthless on the court, you should hear his thoughts about one of your most beloved holidays...

Shirt off Ed is a great role player that most every team would love to have on their team. I hope the team figures out a way to retain him.

If we trade Ed I'm gonna be pissed. He's my favorite Blazer right now.

I was thinking earlier that it might be pretty cool to trade him for a first (or to get rid of a bad contract) and get under the tax line, and get him set up on a 3yr MLE this summer. Do the whole "we love you and want you, and you can totally hook us up by playing for someone else for 25 games. Then you'll be here long-term until Dame's deal is up."

These are the guys you build a franchise with....he'll end up with the keys to the city..I think Ed is what Dame wanted to talk about with Paul Allen....who he didn't want to trade...

lol. Dame will end up with the Keys to the city.

Scratch that, he already has them.

Ed is great to contend with - but I highly highly doubt he was the f0cal point of the discussion. (Notice you only gave one scenario to what Dame talked to Allen about. Yes, I did semantics.)

If we lose Ed then it's directly because of the stupid money given to guys like MyLe and Turner.

Ed will be fine no matter where he is. Just don't think the Blazers need to lose him. All they need to do is find a nice place for a guy like Vonleh and they are out of the tax threshold. A small move and let this team play.
