If we're lucky, Risacher drops to 7. Otherwise, there isn't a 3-D prospect worth taking that high. Kyshawn George is probably the next-best 3-D prospect, but he'd also still be available at 14.

if the Blazers want Risacher, I'd wonder how high they could move up with 7+14? 7+34 probably would persuade any team.

I think the general view is shifting a little bit. Even The HCP is a bit quieter about his "omg worst draft ever" narrative. Which is maybe a good sign.

It's Spring.....there are lawns to be mowed.

uh, source? the 'this draft is awful at the top' noise is louder than ever.

I would think of portland's pick at #7 as a regular draft #13 or #14 pick, as #1 is like having the #7 or #8 pick.

Nah, Sarr probably would have gone 5th last year.

After his rookie season? Probably 17th.

Salaun - D "tools", No 3 (decent FT%)
Filip - 3, questionable D tools in NBA

This is helpful, filling in for the guys I haven’t cared to look at.

Unfortunately, it is not that simple. They are all so young. Risacher is probably the best right now..... but in two years when they are still only 21?

I can see Williams adding 20 lbs and being a good defender with his length. He can shoot from everywhere IMO

I can see Buzelis who is reportedly a good defender but whose 3 pt stats were not great, but whose shot looks pretty good. I see no reason why it won't improve.

Salaun can shoot, can he be a good defender?

Holland is a good defender...can he improve his 3 pt shot?

George's measurements surprised me. Over 6'8" and 209. Add another 7 lbs? he is an intriguing wing because he handles the ball so well, has good vision, and can shoot. All he seems to need is a little more strength ...which should be easy to work on.

This draft could end up being a lot deeper than the "experts" think. It is just really hard to project how they will turn out
Thank you for mentioning Kyshawn George. I’m going to have to look into him more. He’s an old freshman, but I love his measurements. Is he really a SG?

The 3pt and ft percentage both look good even if on limited attempts. He like the flashes in his offensive game, his pull up 3 off the dribble is impressive. He is around as tall as what we think Rupert is now, arms aren’t as long, but he looks like he might be more NBA ready?

I’d be very interested in him in a trade up from one of our 2nds + Thybulle/Williams. Another “big guard” who can handle the ball, 2.2-1.5 to ratio leads me to believe he’ll never be playmaking forward, but he won’t be a black hole on offense and he can move the ball within the offense.

You’re fucking crazy FAMS! I’m quiet, because there’s nobody worth talking about. I let the “draft experts” handle it.
just like other internet algorithms, the "experts" get into feedback loops here confirming their fantasies that they're onto something... we need you on that wall HCP!

maybe you’re conflating draft depth with overall talent? it’s pretty well discussed that past 15-20 it’s a normal draft but there aren’t any can’t-miss prospects in the top 8. it’s a gamble.

It's pretty much like any other draft after 7/8. People keep bashing it as if there is another way to rebuild. This is it.

He would have gone number one. Not even close. Lots of draft experts say this draft is essentially starting at 8-10 pick range in other drafts.
You think he’s going to be better than Reed Sheppard? Im not so sure all around?

I'm saying that if he had not come out for the draft last year, and had been in this draft, he would have gone number one.

people are bashing the lack of top-end talent at the top, quite fairly. drafts are usually crapshoots, this one is an even bigger gamble than usual.

42% on open threes says yes.
i like salaun as a prospect, though I wouldn't list shooting as a strength of his yet. he's really rough around the edges—you're buying the motor and the athletic profile.

Last year and a lot of other years there have been guys that were seen as can't miss prospects... and you still can miss on those guys. Very obviously there aren't any of those guys in this draft but there is a ton of star potential that has low floors and there are also guys who look like there floor is a solid rotation player but they don't have a projected ceiling of anything more than a fifth starter on a contender.

Projections are often wrong though, so you might snag someone you think is safe with no upside who ends up being a lot better, you might hit on a risky boom or bust guy, you might bust on one of those and you might even draft a guy you think is a safe bet to stay in the league who is gone in two seasons.

No players who are perceived as locks in this draft but I would say there's a 90% chance that more than one all star will be taken... it just might not be any of the guys in the top 10. Hopefully Schmitz is our ace in the hole but we'll have to hope our pick or picks are good just like every other fan base in this draft. No Wembys or ADs. Definitely no LeBron, DWade or Carmelos and yeah probably a lot of potential Darkos.

Your opinion is fine, but you asked a question and I answered it. What you do with the information is up to you.

Most fans aren't differentiating. They heard a talking point and ran with it.
