He's not #1 draft pick material. I don't even want the Blazers move up to get him as per some reports
Oh - I completely agree...
Even if he's there at #7, I'm likely passing for one of the other wings.

If the Hawk fans are making the argument to draft him #1, the I think they should... It would just push better talent down a slot and guarantee the Blazers don't make a bonehead mistake in drafting him.

Given that he's a two-time unanimous player of the year, it seems that he wasn't "too slow" for the NCAA game. I'd say that he was doing what his coach at the college level wanted him to do to be successful at that level, and he is now doing the things his agents and advisors are telling him he needs to do to be successful at the NBA level. It tells me that he's versatile and coachable and willing to do what is necessary to succeed.

You just changed the argument. Did anyone say Edey isn't too slow for the next level? That's the crux of the matter, and his collegiate accolades have no bearing on that.

I didn't watch much of him this year, so I have no real opinion on his stepped up play and how that will translate. Last year, he looked somewhere between a 2nd round project and training camp invite. Just terribly slow and easy to neutralize with smaller players simply getting in his way. That being player of the year material is pretty sad.

I changed no argument. You suggested that his combine performance vis-a-vis his pre-combine scouting reports might indicate that his work ethic is lacking. I addressed that contention.

We have draftexpress expert as our asst GM. I have faith we will make the right play come draft day

Donovan actually kind of reminds me of Joel Pryzbilla. He'll be a good shot blocker, rebounder, and interior defender. But he doesn't seem to have much offensive skill.

Or perhaps like Hasaan Whiteside without a jumper.

He is a very good passer. He definitely has that on both of them.

Where would Dereck Lively II get drafted if he's on this year's draft?

If Scoot today is in this draft where does he go? I'd think around our pick.

Atlanta isn't losing Trey more than likely, so Id say 2. Thats based on all we knew before last years draft.

Atlanta is in a similar positioning that Portland was in that, do they build around and Trey with number 1 or move off him?

Draft is a crap shoot, Lively today is more valuable than #1.
Steady on. Lively's value has been inflated by playing next to two amazing point guards. All he has to do is catch lobs and block shots. Look at how good Derrick Jones Jr. looks now, and I don't think he suddenly improved tenfold since leaving us.

Sharpe--B
Rupert--C (seemed like an obvious pick; he was rated by many as a first-rounder)
Scoot--N/A (he was the consensus pick at that spot; I wouldn't give Schmitz credit for taking the same guy everybody else would take)
Walker--A (great to get a rotation player at the end of the 2nd)
Camara--N/A (traded for him [yes, I know the conventional wisdom that Schmitz was high on him, and that's why we insisted on his inclusion])
Murray--D (and that might be generous)
Ayton/Banton/Duop--if we're assessing draft acumen, these aren't relevant.

Consensus, I'd also give a C (+, maybe B-), but we also have no idea what other players he liked or didn't. Still, my position remains the same: Schmitz has not done enough in his 2 years here to justify blanket confidence in his evaluations.
Walker I certainly wouldn't grade an A... guy shot a career high from 3 and it was 29%. He's not a rotational player at all right now. Its a good pick because you don't expect anything at pick #57 but for all we know he'll be out of the NBA in a few years. If he becomes a rotational player then its an A; but Walker isn't close to that right now.

I've missed your trade prop ridiculousness. It's so nice to see it again.

The Wizards deal is the only one of those that has a prayer of happening.

Atlanta wouldn’t like Ayton? We can add a 2026 1st to sweeten the pot;

and Washington wouldn’t want Ant + 7 for 2?

and Houston wouldn’t want Grant + 14 with us taking contracts off their hands, for the 3rd?
We shouldn’t trade any picks for the next few years, so no I wouldn’t trade a 2026 pick for the first.

Houston doesn’t have any big contracts they want to move.

maybe Adams & Jeff Green

Brogdon + Reath + 7 + 34 for Adams + Green +3?....pipedream?

probably a major pipedream if they can get Mikal Bridges for 3

Except that's not what I said, thus you changing the argument to side step what I actually did say.
