I am still leery of taking Salaun at 7, but he is a better defender than I thought. Doesn't sound like he will be around at 14 anymore though because he
looks to be the best 4 on the board other than Sarr who is more of a C/PF

He’s the closest thing to a Giannis in this class I think.

But there's not really direct correlation of that. Just because he appeared slow and methodical in school doesn't necessarily mean that he wouldn't have had been able to post similar athletic times during the college season.

Which brings us back to the combine measurements being meaningless, so that scenario is covered.

This kind of explains the way i feel about this years draft day.

again...unless there is a dramatic increase in certainty about who is getting drafting when, the 1st round of the draft this year might have high drama and entertainment value; especially for teams with two lottery picks

and again....fucking Spurs. They get Wemby last season, and while Portland has 7 + 14. they have 4 + 8

This dude is old. #14
Gotta do your due diligence, though. He would not be my first pick for 7 (or probably my fifth pick for 7) but working him out and seeing what he's about makes sense (and, like you say, he might be sitting there at 14).

I am really torn on DK cause I am not sure what you will get from him -- I mean he has a higher floor then most but an average ceiling to maybe slightly above average ceiling then others. I think he could be anything from a Klay Thompson ( best case ) , Wally S , Chase Budinger etc to Pat C ( ex-Blazer ) on the low end.

I really like him and if the Blazers were drafting at 8 to 10 when the chances of a slip guy being there was low then I would take him in a heart beat but for 7 when there are guys who could slip could be there or even a guy who might be a bust but has the "tools" to have a high ceiling then makes me take a real real long pause on wanting him.

HOWEVER saying all that --

He would really take some pressure off of Scoot and Ant and company if he could hover around the 3 point line and be a sniper with chances to drive when over played and either finish or kick it out to one of them for an open shot.

I wish Cody would be there at 14, but I would put money that he won't be.

I'd say it's 50/50, especially with Topic injury. I also think it wouldn't be too hard to move a few spots up. And worst case scenario, I think Ware is a really good pick here as well.

The Spurs won’t out tank us this year though.

Love this kid's personality. He is a pretty good interview.

Yeah he is definitely sounds like he is a student of the game. He said the right things. GMs are looking for guys who will work hard to improve. Saying it and doing it are two different things, but I think he has that competitive fire to do so. I still think Detroit takes him at 5 though.

I just don't think Holland will be there at 14 either.
I agree. Wouldn't be surprised by Salaun at 7... but then again, I also wouldn't be surprised by Clingan still being available at 7 and Cronin thinking he's some amazing steal at that spot. :(

We thought that about Sharpe at 7 AND Scoot at 3 in the past two drafts. Who knows?

There is a non-zero chance that OKC will select someone else at 12 — someone not named Cody Williams. If that happens and he falls to the Blazers at 14, I will be drinking in celebration AFTER driving to a friend’s place (on my yearly trip North). And all Blazers fans MUST drive home safely before consuming your favorite intoxicant.

With that PSA concluded, it’s a hard choice IMHO on which one to take a big swing at with 7 — Williams or Salaun. I’d be shocked if either one gets to 14. So move up from 14 and take both.
