Well, I guess the French will hate us now along with the Spaniards. If we dump Freeland, we can piss off the English too.

Seriously, I don't know what to make of this deal. I liked Nic, but he definitely was lacking in drive. Hopefully, this is a first step that gets us a better roster than last year. I seriously don't know if I'm up for another rebuild.

I'm a fan of Batum's game and he's been among my favorite Blazers players since his rookie season; nevertheless he didn't quite develop as I'd hoped. Kawhi Leonard is what I hoped Batum would become, but he's fallen well short of that. I'm still sad to see him go, but Vonleh is an intriguing prospect to add. He wasn't good this past season, but he held his own at an extremely young age which is always a good sign for a player's possible ceiling. He has the potential to be a rim protector and great rebounder on the defensive end and a shooter out to three-point range on the offensive end.

Watching that rookie video he looked like he had a lot of skillsets and a good instinct for rebounding. More polished than TRob and now he's had a year to get acclimated. Big upside to him for such a young guy.

Think it's fair, but not sure of the direction...its an exciting time to care!

Guys, we are that much closer to winning the Summer League Championship!!!

But seriously, it sucks to see Batum go. When his game was on, he was a joy to watch on both offense and defense. This move is a step back for our team talent-wise (short-term), but sometimes you have to take a step back to move forward. Looking long-term, this may be a great trade for us. It offers the Blazers more flexibility to make other moves. I can't wait to see what Olshey has up his sleeve next. It's nice to know that he isn't afraid to shake things up.

Assuming we keep Vonleh, I'm excited to see how he fits with our team. He has potential, and that is always exciting. I am eagerly anticipating summer league now.

The most fragile+overpaid+inconsistent player is off of the team
In the end Batum didn't live up to the hype. Playoff performance was the final nail in the coffin.

I herby give a favorable summary judgment to this summary judgment. Says it all.

Geez! I don't get all this Batum hate in here. Talk about piss poor performances of last season and the playoff in particular, it was not Batum that played no defense. It was not Batum who chucked up a rim clank from three range time after time. If a trade was made because of piss poor performance, somebody wasn't watching, they got the wrong man.
This looks like blow it up to me, Neal traded our second best player for a guy that could not even get minutes.

Sometimes it is really hard to take you seriously...

Not great value for Batum at all. I would think we could have gotten more for him...maybe no one else wanted to overpay him...I find humor that its ex blazers GM Cho that trades for him...better a low seed east team then a west team...still that hurts...I don't envy Olshey right now, but I know he must have something up his sleeve. Otherwise he'd have Paul Allen up his ass...and the fans to boot...I think we will see more today...that said Gerald Henderson...uggghh. Not the worst player, but not a starter and not a small Forward...what a logjam at the SG....Vonleh? Olshey better know what he is doing...because he is starting to remind me of Nash.
