OT Woman calls 911, gets killed by Minneapolis police, source says

Because there is a very large Somali community there and a police force should reflect the population it serves.
Amazing! Somalies (warm climate dudes) in Minnesota!! I suppose 1993 is no longer on their minds.

I never did see the Police Chief in MPD in action. But if she was anywhere near as incompetent as the Mayor that fired her, that would account for hiring the hair trigger Somali.
Damn! A whole bunch of black guys there at the meeting, doing their best to negate the last election for Mayor, but in this case, they could well be right!
They were just talking instead of burning the dang town down, so in the wake of what went down, they do deserve a little more consideration in what they have to say.

Have finally read about this and WOW! This is sketchy as fuck. I was an MP in the Army for 5 years and it doesn't matter how much training you go thru......it's still a person with a gun in their hands. People no different than anybody else on here. How in the hell are they going to get to the bottom of this?

(CNN)A woman shot and killed by Minneapolis police had called 911 to report a possible crime near her home, a source who knew her said.

Justine Ruszczyk called 911 on Saturday night because she thought a sexual assault might be taking place in a back alley near her home, the source said.

But after Minneapolis police arrived, an officer shot and killed Ruszczyk.

Police still haven't explained how, or why.

The shooting happened as two Minneapolis police officers responded to a 911 call reporting a possible assault shortly before 11 p.m., Minneapolis Mayor Betsy Hodges said.

The officers were wearing body cameras, but they were not turned on during the incident, the mayor said.

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety is now handling the case. The DPS' Bureau of Criminal Apprehension said authorities are in the initial stages of investigation and are "working to learn more about the events that transpired."

They haven't explained how or why because they're still trying to figure out a way to cover it up.

He did an interview. Shot her because she startled them. She walked up right after they heard fireworks go off. He saw her at the window and shot her.

How is that the police chief or mayor's fault is what I'm wondering. The dude shouldn't have been a cop but who knew?

Well im guessing its the chiefs fault because the officer already had several open complaints and should have been on leave. Can't see how it would be the mayors fault.

Is that the proper procedure to put him on leave? Was it entirely up to her? I haven't read much about this because it is just so out there.

I don't know if that is proper procedure. That is the only reason I could come up why the chief would be responsible. That and maybe she knew he was a loose canon.

Because the police chief is ultimately responsible for what goes on in his/her department.

But I can't help wondering, if this had not been a white woman from a country that is an ally, would the chief had resigned?

And cops are supposed to be trained. A trained person does not shoot to kill because there is a loud noise somewhere.

One dumbass gets a chief ousted?

Seems like the modern thing to do, no room for error these days.
