Woman Falls On 'L' Tracks, Gets Hit By Train

The incident happened shortly before midnight at the Berwyn Avenue Red Line station, according to Chicago Transit Authority spokeswoman Wanda Taylor.

The woman, who reportedly had been drinking, apparently fell onto the tracks accidentally, police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.

The woman was on the southbound tracks when she was struck by the train, Taylor said. The woman, who was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, was not killed.

A Lincoln District police officer said the woman was "OK" and "had minor injuries."

Following the incident, power was shut off on the Red Line between the Wilson and Thorndale stations for about an hour, Taylor said.</div>

I knew a guy who did the same thing a couple of years ago. He was out at a Christmas work party, got drunk, and decided to walk home in the early hours of the morning. It's easy to say now he should've got a ride with someone, but at least he didn't drive himself. Apparently he either fell asleep or tripped and hit his head on the tracks, train came and that was that. Thing is, he wasn't an idiot at all. He was smart and a talented sportsman, with a good job for his age. Being drunk and trains just don't mix though.
