The Family Circle Cup is a WTA Tour affiliated professional tennis tournament for women, held every year since 1973. The tournament is currently played on the green clay courts at the Daniel Island Tennis Center in Charleston, South Carolina, USA. From its inception in 1973 to 2000, the tournament was held at the Sea Pines Plantation on Hilton Head Island with the exception of 1975 and 1976 when it was played on Amelia Island off the coast of Florida. It moved to Charleston in 2001. It is classified on the WTA Tour as a Premier tournament.

Wozniacki advances, Jankovic upset in Charleston

Top-seeded Caroline Wozniacki advanced to the semifinals of the Family Circle Cup with a 6-3, 6-4 win Friday over Nadia Petrova.

Second-seeded Jelena Jankovic was upset by Daniela Hantuchova 1-6, 6-3, 6-3.

Zvonareva, Stosur To Duel For Family Circle Cup Title

After six rounds of world class tennis action, Russian Vera Zvonereva and Australian Samantha Stosur play each other Sunday to decide the singles champion of the 2010 Family Circle Cup in Charleston, South Carolina.

Zvonareva booked the first final spot Saturday, after first-seeded Caroline Wozniacki retired with an ankle injury in the first set.

Wozniacki, ranked second in the world, tweaked her ankle after trying to reach Zvonareva’s excellent drop shot.
