Maybe there are people here who use Word Press. how is it as an easy-to use, publishing platform for say a business. I see there are some themes, you can update news and archive pretty easily?

I like it. Tons of plugins and themes, and if you play around with CSS you can tweak it quite a bit.

Wordpress rocks.

After much analysis, that is what I went with. We used the media theme and totally customized it - easily. I'm very happy with it, and that's after a very expensive mistake using Drupal. :(

My assistant built my whole site - her fees are very reasonable. If you are interested, shoot me a PM. Maybe even just for a lesson...

Saw your assistant's website, good stuff. A lot of the stuff I do as some of my side consulting gigs....good stuff there too....

very cool sight . . . impressive.

I just paid a local guy to help me with my site. I wish I knew about your assistant before cutting him the check.

Yes, it gets decent traffic, especially given that I don't do a lot or marketing of it, other than getting good links in. Thanks for the kind words.

The best thing I did was to start blogging - its original content (I usually write for others), and the SEO is strong. I get more hits from searches from that than anything.

I use my assistant pretty much on a virtual basis and it works just fine, btw.

yeah, I have my own VA and I pay her $5 an hour. Doesn't have quite the same set of skills though...but decent enough.

:)

Google Page Rank: 5

*drool*

(Page rank isn't everything, but when you get above 4 you are doing a lot of things right. Wish I was there. Nice job.)

Mook, what term did you search? We rarely rank that high on anything...

We were running WordPress MU at s2blogs.com for a while, but people rarely made use of it.

I posted a poll in the Blazers' forum about vb3's blogs and there wasn't any interest either.

Just a data point.

Ok, now I feel both jealous and annoyed. Nothing sucks worse than when the rich kid gets a piece of candy and he doesn't even know it's candy.

Here's an explanation of Pagerank:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PageRank

Basically, it's a simple scale of N/A to 0 to 10. N/A means Google hasn't even noticed you. 0 means Google knows you exist, but you aren't that big. 10 means Google thinks you are one of the most important sites on the internet.

RipCityTwo.com's home page is a 0.

My site is a 3, after 15 months of work.

CNN.com is a 10.

Going from 0 to 2 is pretty easy. Getting to 3 is harder (at least it was for me). Every number up from there is a bitch, as far as I can tell.

That you have a 5 and don't even know it makes me want to find out where you live and spray purple and gold all over your windshield.
