OK...employees that work TOO hard...like they're super dedicated. In the real world do they actually move up that much? Seems to me that those that work hard and good actually harm their ability to advance in the workplace as they will remain a good low-paid "worker bee" for the managers/directors.

It doesn't matter how hard you work, it only matters how well you blow your own horn. I've never been good at promoting myself/trumpeting my accomplishments, so it seems like nobody ever knows what the hell I do.

I have found if you work extremely hard in spurts then fake it the rest of the time, people will assume you work hard all the time. Just get the stuff done quick, act hyper and agressive but then surf the net the rest of the day = success!

In my line of work it's not the best workers but the best "company" people. Serve on all the idiot committees... So the best & brightest stay down and the ambitious move up.

I don't get people who eat at their desk. I have to get out of here at lunch time.

I hate it when people put work updates in their facebook feed. Or motivational work quotes.

I like people who drink on the job and post here. Like *deleted as he is a leftie sheep*

I don't care how my employees work, only that they produce. I worked for two firms that had that attitude and two that didn't. Those two firms that focused on results consistently had a higher quality of employee than the other two, even though they largely did the same thing.

I love it when you specifically tell a coworker what to do exactly in a situation and what the outcome would be, yet they do the opposite and it results at them getting yelled at.

working sucks, that's the biggest observation I have made.

only because of money. If I had enough money to survive the rest of my life, I definitely wouldn't work.

I like the interaction of working. Its quite interesting.

Retirement sounds dreadful.

retirement late in life, sure. But retiring in my late 20's sounds pretty awesome to me. I'll go back to work when I turn 60.

I think retiring in your 20s blows. Everyone you know is working, so nothing to do during the day. And you eventually get sick of being on "vacation".

You can still have fun in your 20s. Short little "mini-retirements". Read the 4 hour workweek for some ideas.

Depends on what kind of work. Michael Jordan never wanted to retire...... Hugh Heffner never did.

True dat. Although my retirement would be lamer than their jobs.

hate it when I accidentally forget to sign out of Messenger.

I've got an observation.... I learned to keep my big mouth shut. Not talk about politics. Not talk about personal beliefs. Don't gossip in the work place. Just keep my head down, a smile on my face, and just another one of the faces in the crowd. My inability to keep my mouth shut has gotten me in trouble time and time again. I never seem to learn my lesson.

Yup. A few people were shocked like years into my job when they learned I was republican.

There are certain people who no matter how practical or how much you can save them from fucking up, they will NEVER listen to you. Its best to let them crash and burn on their own rather than get too involved.

I actually imparted that wisdom on my fiancee... she found out one of her coworkers blew a guy in the closet at her work. She wanted to tell her boss but I told her to stay out of it. That kind of shit will get found out sooner or later, and you don't want to be the one getting involved.

Yeah, tell her not to blow their cover.
