I think it may be. Not because of the final score, which was bad enough, but because of the horrible execution, sloppy play, and almost total lack of effort. Not to mention that it came at the hands of a team on a 6-game losing streak.
Even in the early years of the expansion Trail Blazers, when they were at the bottom of the NBA barrel, they fought hard and gave it an honest effort. This team did not do that tonight. They laid down right from the first quarter, and it only got worse from there.
I watched the game on MSG, and the Knicks' announcers were stunned at how poorly the Blazers were playing. "Horrible," "pathetic," "bumbling," and worse were some of the words they used. At several points during the game they actually seemed to feel sorry for Portland.
I wish I had gone out to see a movie instead of watching this embarrassment. I can't remember a time when I've ever felt more disillusioned about this team.
