Oden's contract is very manageable. Would a contender consider trading their late first rounder for Oden? Maybe a 18th pick? Could a team like Boston be interested? I mean they wanted Oden back in the day. They could give us their pick and hope Oden actually can play in this league.

I would for a 18-24 pick.

I sure as hell wouldn't. Boston wouldn't either when they have over 20 million in cap space this summer.

Honestly, any team that wants to take a gamble on Oden can just sign him in the off-season. Anyone offering more than the MLE is just retarded.

The only first rounder you'll see regarding Oden will be the first round of beers I buy when the guy is dropped from the Blazers. Don't get me wrong - I love the guy. But his chronic health problems have kicked this Blazer fan in the nuts four too many times.

IMO - his salary is useful for trade filler - nothing more. Godspeed to him though - his body might be useful to science someday.

Why would Boston, or anyone, trade a first-round pick for a guy who will be an unrestricted free agent after the season?

Am I missing something here?

Why would any team give up a 1st round pick for a guy that will probably never play again?

It would make more sense to the other team, if Portland just bought the pick. Because they'd actually GET something out of the money.
