Would you do this trade

First off this is not a rumor out there but I think it would benefit both teams greatly and makes a lot of sense.

Outlaw, the 22nd pick to the Warriors for Ronny Turiaf.

Why does Portland do this? Outlaw is not in our future plans and lets face it even if we pick up his option this year next year he wont be with the team because he will look to paid and probably would like to start on a team. Turiaf is on a reasonable deal for another 4 years and is exactly the kind of player we need to back up Aldridge. Strong, physical plays great defense, unselfish and always comes to play. Also if Joel or Oden get hurt he can and has played at center.

Why does the Warriors do this. Outlaw is the kind of player that could easily put 20 up on any night with this team. He fits their offense and if it all works out the resign him, if not he is an expiring contract. The 22nd pick is an added bonus and the cost of doing business.

What are your thoughts. I think this would be a good trade for both teams and it would not hurt our capspace enabling us to still make either trades or sign free agents outright. Besides I think Turiaf is better then any PF that we could hope to draft to back up Aldridge.

It doesn't I suppose but I figured an Outlaw for Turiaf straight up probably wouldn't entice the Warriors enough to pull the trigger. And I should've said in my 1st post that I included the pick because I thought Portland wanted more vets and less youth therefore we would likely be trading the pick anyways and if we didn't we would have another rookie on our team who would not be playing.

Maybe, but as Brandon Roy put it at the end of the year we need a back up PF and Turiaf is more then adequate and on a reasonable contract for 3 years. You think we would resign Outlaw after this year at the same rate? Besides Turiaf plays defense and is great at it, something Outlaw has yet to do. I'm just trying to come up with ideas that balances out our roster better.

I'm all for getting talent, and the draft is the cheapest way to do it.

"Don't need more rookies" is a cop-out, imho. Roy and LMA played just fine as rookies. Derrick Rose played pretty well, as did over half the lottery.

sure, we're probably not going to pick up a Joe Alexander "let him develop" type. But if you don't think Curry/Rubio/Evans could help this team, I just don't know what to say.

Turiaf would help us a lot, but I think Travis has more value around the league. He's a great fit for nellie. We don't need to sweeten anything, they would need to sweeten it for us to take on 3 more years of salary for a backup PF.

I like Turiaf a lot, but players like him really are a dime a dozen. Pops Mensah-Bonsu, for example:

If anything, GState will be looking to unload Turiaf for next-to-nothing. I'll bet you anything you like they see him as a Mullin mistake.

BTW, just because one contributes heavily on offense (Outlaw) and one defensively (Turiaf) doesn't mean that that Outlaw is better. At least if I had Turiaf I know what I would get from him game to game. I never do with Outlaw which is why he will most likely not be on our team when the season starts.

Ok, I can go with that. I was just throwing in the pick since it would in essence save us money for free agency. Maybe give them pick and get a future 1st back in return? Also, unless we are trading up, Curry, Rubio and Evans are going to be off the board when we draft.

I'd be down for that. It would create more PT issues for our SF so much that another trade would have to be done to thing out that spot. Webster, Batum and Young all would be deserving of time but all wouldn't be able to play.

Hell yeah. That would be a masterstroke for Portland. A starting PG and a potential stud in Young... it would be great!

As for giving up Outlaw for Turiaf: if contracts were more similar, MAYBE... assuming there was no pick from Portland to sweeten it. With the amount of money RT is owed... no way.
