I'd like to first state that BRoy ranks among my top five Blazers of all-time. But with his knee problems, would you trade him, simply to berid the team of his crippling contract?
Right now, I would trade BRoy for a team's number one pick and take back expiring contracts (provided they expired at the end of the 2011-2012 season) simply to make cap room for pursuing one of the 2012 free-agents.
I'd use the number one pick on the best available big (PF or Center) for insurance in case Oden never does pan out.
In 2012, I'd go hard for CP3 with the BRoy cap space we'd be freeing up.
What team(s) might gamble on BRoy? Would NJ give up their number one pick to unload other bad contracts? Doubtful. Would a team like Cleveland be interested in doing the same? Maybe! Antawn Jaimison + Pick for Roy?
