Would you trade for Kenneth Faried

It would get us under the luxury tax, or very close to it.

Nope, it doesn't, and with respect to the luxury tax, close doesn't matter. You're either under it or you're not.

And then we'd be stuck with Faried's $13.7 million contract in 2018-19.

No thanks, I'd rather trade Ed Davis' expiring contract for someone who addresses an actual need. Failing that, just trade him at the deadline for a future second round pick to get us under the tax threshold.

You'll change your tune before Thanksgiving. MyLe will silence his doubters and be the unquestioned backup C by that point, and it will be other teams begging us for a trade, rather than us begging them to take him.
Pass the kool-aid.

I want to believe.

I know that close doesn't matter - a very similar deal which, for example included Pat C, would do it.

Still don't want Faried. He's redundant and on the books for $13.7 million next year. There are better ways to use our expiring/non-guaranteed contracts.

I like Faried but if he's not happy in Denver because he's not going to be starting then he won't be happy here. Hold out for Kevin Love.

Only if they take Meyers Leonard back in return. I think Faried would be a nice player on this team, but it wouldn't work with is contract, making 13 mil over the next 2 years. It would only make sense for Portland if we're unloading Leonard's contract.

Faried, defense???? Hah, good one.

Lack of defense is exactly why Kenneth Faried is NOT a starter. He's a rich man's J.J. Hickson (high PER, but doesn't make his team any better).

He's also a poor fit in Stotts' system (2-19 career 3-pointers). He would provide no floor spacing and would just get in Nurk's way.

We already have a log jam at power forward, and Swanigan can give us everything Faried can, and more.

apparently he consider himself a starter (they brought Millsap in), and he said that theres 29 other teams he could go, so I wonder would you trade for him... I think hed be very good fit here, especially with his rebounding and defence, hes someone who fights, and he can score too

on a plus side, hes still young and has good relationship with Nurk, and I think Swanigan could learn from him... I like Manimal and Id like to have him here

This excerpt from the article says it all: "...I want to play Manimal basketball..."

Who talks about themselves like that? Fuck that guy.

Yeah, I'd prefer someone who wants to play team basketball - on both ends of the floor.

Think that was just used as an example. He also listed Kemba Walker. Lol. Interestingly, he didn't include Courtney Lee, who would seem like the ideal target.

Lol at Quick. Sure, CHO is going to give us Kemba for a TPE.

In addition to Lee, he also left off Jared Dudley. Lee and Dudley have been my top two TPE targets since the day we traded Crabbe.

Jon Leuer? Right... We're going to pay a huge luxury tax bill for Jon Leuer.

Well he certainly covered his bases - everything from guys we could never get to guys we'd never want.

I'd be careful about slandering John Leuer. No way in hell is he not on Olsheys list somewhere.

I hope not. Do we really need a weak rebounding stretch 4 that shoots .293 from 3-point range. I thought that's why we had Meyers.
