This morning on Mike and Mike they were suggesting that the rumor is that if Miami falls short everyone on the team except for Lebron would be available.

IF that were true and Wade was available would trade say, a resigned Batum and the 2 picks for Wade?

I seriously doubt that they would get rid of Wade and it is also doubt that we would have enough to entice them but if something like I suggested was an option, would you do it?

And if we could pull that off, would it be enough to attract Deron Williams? And could we even afford to build the rest of the team if we could get Williams?

What do you think it would take to get him? Could we get him without trading LMA?

No.

I think he's on the decline. Nagging injuries... And for what we'd have to give up to get him would be certainly not worth it.

if all it took was Batum and the 3 picks?? I would do that trade yesterday.

Screw Wade....used to like him but these last couple of years he has become a total jerk....I don't want him on POR....

I'd do the trade, but do a core of Aldridge and Wade = championship caliber? Not with the crappy supporting cast they've still got. There are tons of holes left to be filled and the roster is so talent dry I just don't think it's going to be enough.

This roster is so devoid of talent that I legitimately think that UK could beat us.

No worries. The plan so far is for them to acquire slightly above average talent and get into the first round so appease the lemmings....er fans that hang on the organizations every word. Hopefully they rip this shit apart and start acquiring guys with a chance to be special

There is no way in hell you would get Wade with that Package. You would struggle getting him with a package of LA and the two number ones.

The Blazers dump talent to get cap space and picks to use this summer and then you make this kind of a comment before they use those assets to restock the lineup?

If there's a trade, Bosh would the one shipped out of Miami (if there were takers for his huge contract). They still have a great shot at winning a title this year, so even that's is a long shot.

As opposed to the tear-it-down-and-rebuild lemmings...er fans, who seem to be unaware that the T-Wolves followed that model in dumping Szerbiak & Garnett five years ago and still haven't sniffed a playoff berth since then.

Show me a successful small market team that used a different plan. This team is almost void of talent, and needs to add young talent and hope to get lucky.

If Wade were traded here:

A) He'd know his career was officially over as a superstar!
B) He'd play like it
C) We have no GM, no coach and a blow hard owner, to really make this deal work..
D) Wade still wouldn't be enough to beat OKC
E) He's not coming into his prime rather leaving it....
F) Wade is the real face of Miami to their fans atleast... meaning.... never going to happen!!

All that said, with the amazing minds of Ptown management, I don't see why we wouldn't leverage the whole team to get a player who'd be miserable here and end up on the IR just like Oden for the next few years! Pull the trigger PA! HAHAHA!

I suppose the Spurs are the closest. They got Duncan through the draft and then have consistently added mid- to late- first round picks to keep the winning going. Duncan was a step up from Aldridge, but the Blazers have Nic and some better assets in the way of early first round picks and cap space to rebuild with. Other than that, I'd say that what the Pistons did in winning their title is another example of what could work for Portland. No superstar, but a lot of really good players assembled who just meshed well.

Unless you're somehow able to trade up to the No. 1 pick this year, I don't see any sure-fire franchise-level players in this draft. How, exactly, are you going to get that talent by dumping the closest player that we have to a franchise-level guy? Some folks around here seem to think that giving up LA for peanuts is the best plan.

Hell yes. One of my favorite current players, are you kidding me?

Trade for Wade in a heart beat.

But most likely the guy that gets punted is Bosh.

no. even though Wade for just the picks and Batum is good value, we're not flipping Wade like we did Crash.

It's probably going to take a year or three of picking in the lotto to replenish the talent pool and then hopefully you get lucky and one or two of the picks turn into something special. If you could trade Aldridge ideally it would be for a high lotto pick, otherwise you might as well keep him -- and I haven't seen a single person advocating dumping him for nothing, but maybe I missed that.

Too expensive...

Too big of an ego...

Showing signs of slowing down...

TOO OLD...

Easy pass on this idea.

What (realistically speaking) PF/C would you be comfortable trading LMA for?

Acquire enough picks to have a shot at Cody Zeller? Make a run at a top-5 player in this years draft?

A shot at Cody Zeller? Pretty close to nothing in my book as far as being assured of a franchise-level talent.

And a year or three in the lotto and then waiting another 3-5 years until the talent matures enough to compete? Yeah, I'm definitely not on board with that plan.

I guess we all have different opinions on what constitutes "nothing" Zeller doesn't do much for me, but Fez thinks he's going to be great so that's not advocating getting rid of him for peanuts. In my mind dumping him means shipping him for Channing Frye and Steve Francis ...
