WTF happened to BBF?

At least I could take solace in the knowledge that a) I'd never once tried karaoke, so the shame is less that it could have been and b) my wife absolutely sucks at cooking, and although I joke about it, she thinks it's all in jest and on the inside she's a master chef. And I'm not going to tell her different.

I think I was happier when I was more detached from reality.

I sense an opportunity here.

Mook, chances are high that you could be a much better cook, relative to the population, than you are a singer. And, if your wife is a poor cook, chances are you could do better. It really isn't all that hard to be a passable cook. Pay attention, buy decent ingredients, ignore complicated recipies, or recipies from restaurant chefs.

Trade you wife some household duty, cooking for whatever you got now.

Wire up speakers all throughout your house and feed music to them, so the family and guests don't have to suffer, and all will be good in the world.

Men are the family cooks in many households. Join the trend.

My girlfriend and I had quite the discussion about how well I can sing and how good I could be if I took lessons. She told me I could sound like Chris Cornell....ha ha. I explained to her that practice doesn't change the sound of my voice, only my ability to use it.

My point to her was that I could wish and dream anything but there is a limitation on what I am capable of doing. Some people don't get that. A girl I shared an apartment with back in the day asked me if I thought she could be an intellectual. I told her that by asking me, she answered her own question.

It probably says something about my self-awareness (and the value therof) that I've been told by more than one person that I sing better when I'm drunk. Most people seem to get worse.

Thanks for the welcome. I literally have no idea what happened to BBF. I missed all the excitement, or the purge, or whatever it was that led you all here. Something about ABM, or something, is all I got. I guess I don't really care, either. It's just good to see you all in one place.

Go Blazers!

Chances are high that I'm a better painter, philosopher, ballerina, hippopotamus wrestler and professional high speed gilding masterbator, relative to the population, than I am a singer.

I generally am a decent cook by your standards. And a really loud, high quality sound system has often followed me around in my life. (I used to think I chose friends and a wife who happened to like good stereo systems. I now find it fishy that so much of that loud audio appeared AFTER I demonstrated my singing talents. I think there's been a lot of enabling of my detachment from reality going on in my life, in hindsight.)

Actually, the irony of this is that my wife and I own a company that makes cookbook software. It literally helps people write down their favorite recipes and create a family cookbook with them. So although it sucks that I can't sing or carry a tune (or identify a tune or clap my hands in anything one might even generously consider a rhythm); and it sucks that I have been completely oblivious to this incredibly obvious fact for the past 35 years; AT LEAST I don't sell software that helps people sing.

My wife, who has ruined more pots than I can count while merely boiling water, now actually builds and sells software that helps competent cooks make food. And a lot of the women she sells the software think she must be a cooking genius.

Hmmmm. There's a lot more detachment from reality going on around here than you'd think.

With a neck like that, I bet you can paint the 2nd story rafters no problem.

Welcome to the latest new sign-ups (at least that have come out publicly) BBert and Andalusian.

Good to see the group here continuing to grow. I've seen migrations in the past but not as quick and wholesale as I am seeing with this one.

Gramps...

Did I mention this site is fast? That other place (whatever it used to be called, I forget) was a dog.

Well I made it. I too had to prowl the lonely, dark, and moonlit streets to find you all. In the end, I caught the foul scent coming off this community and in no time I was at home again! :)

Welcome Crimson the Cat

Hiya, Crimson! Nice to see you make the leap (and land on your feet, of course)!

Again, it's nice to see another familiar name. Wow.....the migration is truly happening. Sweet.
