WTF was Batum doing there?

Hodge: "At first, I just wanted to find out if I could still have children. Once I figured out I could have children, it was all good."

Julius Hodge is an arsehat, he deserves it.

Hodge is like Gary Payton. He talks a lot of trash and is passionate on the court, but he's a good guy off the court, and he's definitely not someone who would be on the giving end of a nut shot.

Anyone ever seen this page of quotes from Hodge?

My favorites -

After being named ACC Player of the Year 2003-2004, Hodge was asked to comment on Duke’s Chris Duhon finishing second in the voting:

“Duhon’s always saying that everyone's playing for second place, well I guess now he's that guy.”

.....

During a press conference to announce his decision to return for his senior season:

JH: “…to get to the point, I’m declaring myself eligible for the NBA draft. Questions?”

Reporter: [starts to ask a question]

JH: GOTCHA!!!

That was definitely bush league. It was also seven years ago and Paul was 19 years old. Teenagers are quite often less mature than guys in their early-mid 20's.

Ed O.
CP just hit some Argentinian player in the groin a few days ago. It's what pushed that player to do the same to Melo.

John Stockton was notorious for cheap shots like that. I mean, Dennis Rodman called him the dirtiest player in the league.

Batum's ball swipe is being overblown.

Batum is now FAMOUS! I wonder what kind of product endorsements he could get out of this? :devilwink:

Planter's Nuts could probably use an athlete endorser

When I reach for nuts, I reach for Planters.

Oh man, I would have to buy a ticket is the Ballet actually used that.

Jim Rome is about to talk about the "biggest cheap shot in the olympics".

Ya Nic is getting shit on by everyone. And it's mostly warranted.

Everyone who's never lost their temper and done something stupid raise your hands.

That said, swinging for the nards at an internationally televised Olympic event is not likely to work out well for a player's reputation.

Pre-Portland, Danny Ainge had a horrible reputation and I pretty much hated him for his dirtbag play. Then, he became a Blazer and I liked him a ton. All the drama, facial expressions, hard play suddenly became a good thing.

Nic's move certainly was not ideal, but if it means he's playing with fire and purpose, I don't think any of us will blink an eye.

A fine French Tradition indeed. classy guy..

Just because you got special permission to plug your vent online website doesn't mean you get to talk shit in the Blazer forum.

I don't even care if he was aiming for the nutsack or not, the fact that he took it upon himself to punish a flopper is great. Other sports have ways of making players pay for their actions. You pull some weak shit in baseball, you're gonna get beaned. In football, a 300 lb beast is going to lay you on your ass. In hockey, you're gonna have to drop your gloves and fight. Basketball rewards floppers, and flopping impacts the results of games.

YES, YES, AND YES.

:slowclap:

Didn't see the Spain/France game, but after watching Spain flop all over the place and whine like little girls any time they're called for a foul in the gold medal game, I think I understand where Nic was coming from lol

If Batum's answers were completely honest, they're a public-relations nightmare. There are ways to deliver a hard foul without stooping to that kind of low-rent cheap shot. Later, Batum apologized on Twitter, but that was long after his first public words hit the Internet like a tsunami.

Fucking embarrassing for Nic. Bitchmade.

NBA players aren't known for their toughness

Some are just worse than others (Nic Batum)

Not really. Did you see today's game? Half of Team USA was ready to punch Rudy in the balls.
Kome kneed him there, if that counts. Did you see when Rudy had Kome pinned in the corner, then Kome put his leg through Rudy's legs and up into Rudy's crotch, then used the leverage to get around him along the baseline? Where's the outrage? :)

If Rudy had balls he'd still be in the NBA.

France and Spain have a LOT of bad blood between them. The really stupid thing is this is getting so much play and people are talking about how dirty a hit it was because well... every guy has that special hatred for getting hit in the nuts and anyone who would do it. Rudy did something worse to Tony Parker last year () and it didn't get any play on sportscenter.

I'm glad Rudy is off our team.

This is what I've been saying. I've seen many dangerous 'fouls' over the years, every year. But Batum's closed fist, glancing off the basketball and hitting a guy in the lower abdomen (and missing the vital parts) is being treated by some as worse than Kermit Washington's punch on Rudy Tomjanovich. It's stupid. Meanwhile, if your name is Kome or Chris Paul, you can knee and hit guys wherever you want, and it just means they're competitive.
