Playing our centers a combined 10 minutes in the second half???

What the fuck is wrong with you?

Those lineups and substitutions he trotted out there in the second half were absolute garbage.

Then I just watched that fucking moron's press conference on the postgame show, and all he could say is "you gotta make shots and you gotta defend."

DUH! You think so? Holy mother of shit this guy is a god damned genius. Make shots and defend! Of course! Draw it up on the clipboard, McScribbles!

Here's an idea ... you think when the other team is absolutely raping us in the paint that it might make sense to ... oh ... I don't know ... PLAY TWO OF THE BEST SHOT-BLOCKERS AND REBOUNDERS IN THE GAME???

All of the sudden this basketball mastermind thinks we are Golden State and he's gonna trot out small-ball.

Not good enough, Nate.

What does it say that he won't allow the team to wear headbands?

He's no fun.

Well he's trying to force the mentally tough card, it's been working out for Mike Singletary with the niners in football. But with Nate he, half asses this approach by compromising it constantly by screwing with the players mentality through the course of each game.

That no center lineup has sucked last year too, every time Nate tried it, but he's been going to it on a regular basis this year. And nearly every time, teams start just dunking on us and get easy layups.

Sometimes I feel like I'm in the twilight zone, wondering how Nate can possibly be doing this if we're watching the same game.

Anyway, we're just not that good and we need to make some changes.

Wow, your a sorry ass 49er fan too? Me too. They are very similar. Just trying to do the same thing over and over, even though it doesn't work. Then for some bizaare reason, they suddenly try something else that DOES work, but they go back to what doesn't?

This cake is far too overbaked and needs to be seriously sliced up. Some of it has gone mouldy. (I'm looking at you Stevey, NATE and Outlaw)

Throw the medical staff in on the next trade to please KP. . .

(snip) Just trying to do the same thing over and over, even though it doesn't work. (snip)

That gave me my only laugh for the night. I was just thinking about a famous quote and applying it to Nate:

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
Albert Einstein

Love this thread and is the exact thing everyone was talking about in our section. Not having Greg or Joel in there is STUPID! Argh!! LA and Travis just can't rebound. I hated that lineup and it cost us the game!!

I'm pretty sure that was Rita Mae Brown.

I actually think he tried something new... he wasn't trying the same thing. He was going small to try to light a spark.

But it's a bad fucking idea. One of STRENGTHS of this team is our size. We should be bigger than our opponents at every position most of the game. Instead, we went small and were smaller than our opponents at every spot than the PG (where size is least important).

Not a good move. Greg should have been allowed to foul out and then Joel shoulda been back in to finish the game.

That's one of the things I hate. Greg taken out at the beginning of the fourth because he picked up his fourth foul. Put back in a few mins later, picks up his fifth with 4 mins left, and taken out again. Just leave him in there dammit, and let him play it out! Let him learn to play with fouls!

you know what I hate? the name "McMuffin." it's just dumb, and irritating.

but seriously, he has no idea how to coach

Let Oden foul out. Fouling out isn't going to hurt his self-confidence any more than being parked on the bench after 1-2 minutes of play. Every time a game ends in which Oden has less than 6 fouls, there were minutes he could have played that were left on the table.

That's something that has bugged me in general...not just with McMillan and Oden, but with coaching in general. They end up artificially limiting minutes because they try to "save" their players from fouling out.

Once the fourth quarter rolls around, play Oden as normal until the game is over or he fouls out. At least that way, he gets every possible minute. Otherwise, it's essentially the same as if Oden fouls out on 4-5 fouls, instead of 6. It's just that you, the coach, are fouling him out prematurely.

I agree. I vote for McScribbles. Assclown McScribbles. Or maybe Assclown's the middle name.

Mr. Sonic Assclown McScribbles.

Nope, if Rita borrowed it from Albert it's OK. Nate has tried the small ball many times before and it is always to try to match up with the opponents and there is no way Roy, Andre and Blake should be on the floor at the same time. Why he refuses to make them match up with us is beyond me.

I was at the game, so I didn't hear what happened, but why was Greg sitting to begin the second half??

I love when the Mike's say McMillan is telling the team to push it and stop settling for jumpers and get to the basket.

Well design something for it then coach, fuck. Just yelling at your players to do something is easy.

At this point I'd like to see Joe Prunty or Monty Williams get a go at HC.
NO WAY could they be worse than McMoron.

JBay should also get a run. . .

I'm surprised that Bayless hasn't blown up yet at the coach. Hes had no playing time in the first 5 games so far. I seriously thought Nate would throw him in against Atlanta with their fast pace style. I have a feeling that Bayless will want to be traded by the mid season deadline or by the end of the year. I'm really pissed at Nate right now on his decisions tonight.

I'm not delighted with Nate either, but Bayless has nothing to do with it. Whether or not we play our 3rd string PG isn't the issue.

Well, I am merely pointing out that the coach should have at least experimented and see what Bayless could do in the Atlanta situation. Millers shots weren't going down and he got clobbered in the 4th trying to drive down the lane. I saw Bayless in the loading dock and he headed straight for his Black Range Rover. He looked down in the dumps.

My God why is he such a tool?
Rotations are certainly one of his weak spots, and he has plenty.

Sometimes I wish he would get tossed so Monty could coach the game.
Oden needs to cut down on silly fouls, but Nate has to let him play throught it.
Nice to see the team has improved it's perimeter defense that their coach is demanding
I'd love to see a coach in here that had a different philosophy on defense.
Constantly saying we have to makes stops and make shots is not acceptable.

All Nate will ever be is a good motivator.
Sure we had an efficient offense last year, but as I have said 1000 times, it's from rebounding.
Sometimes it's ok to push the ball and draw fouls, Nate.
Centers can be a good part of an offense if it's designed to take advantage of one.
Letting Roy go ISO is not a very good way to score the ball consistantly.
Oden and LA need to see the ball more in the low block.
Why is it that he thinks having Blake and Miller launch jumpers is a good offense?
Nate needs to loosen the leash a little bit and let the kids play.

Micromanagers all suck, and coaches are no different.
Calling every play from the bench will wear on a team quickly.
Slowing the game down constantly is not the way to go
Can he adjust? I don't know? He didn't in Seattle, and it almost got him fired.
Right now this team is tuning their coach out.
I'd like to see him enforce his "push it" talk by benching guys that don't do it.
Basketball is a pretty simple game. Find a mismatch, and attack it.
Blake shooting jumpers is not a mismatch, it's a rest for the defenders on that possession.
Lack of motion is what is hurting this team.
Eventually every team will see how easy it is to stop us like Dallas did last year.
Seems to me Bayless should get a shot as well.

God damn, well put. That game was fucking horrible.

Webster goes off in the 3rd, and gets sent to the bench for his "rotation". Terrible.

Why do I think that Bill Simmons might actually be on to something right now?

Oh right, it's because the team does look like they are disjointed and have tuned out the coach.

Just like Bill said they would.

Which sucks total ass btw.

The small lineup is not new. It failed in every pre season game, and it has failed in every regular season game. In fact, now that I think about it, I am going to see if it is in 82 games so I can demonstrate this.
