X-Rays for Oden on Right Foot

The thing is, we don't need another lotto pick, we needed Greg...earlier time than usual to pull a raef + expiring for stud deal?

How long does it take a hairline fracture to heal? Wasn't that what took out Yao for the season?

I just don't see how he could break a bone with the injury TNT keeps showing. If he broke a bone on a hyper-flexed ankle injury, well, let's not go there.

WIth that kind of weight coming down on that ankle like that, it will be a long-term injury. Either it is a severe sprain that will sideline him for the year, or it's a really bead sprain that will linger all season long.

They just interviewed GO and he didn't hear or feel anything pop. That's good news.

Ugh, let's hope not.

I've had such a bad day today, and I was really looking forward to the season opener today. Now this shit happens. I'm pissed and depressed.

Would you hear a hairline fracture? Especially in that kind of environment? When was this interview?

Maybe it did . . .

He wouldn't have been able to keep playing on it. I've had a severe mid-foot sprain before; the top of your foot hurts like hell and swells like a water balloon and you can't do much for a few weeks, then mine got better fairly rapidly.

The next time Barrett puts a negative spin on something will be the first time. I'm not believing anything until there's a definitive answer.

Agreed.... sometimes I can't stand MB because everything is always goody goody, best case scenario or some good news has to come out of everything..

UGH I'm so frustrated

I wouldn't go that far.

X-rays were negative and the injury was diagnosed as a sprain. Oden will undergo an MRI on Wednesday.

KGW news went with the Oden story at the top of the news and their reporter at Staples, said "Not to jump to conclusion", but if you were to go off of facial expresions of the Blazers "brass" things wern't looking very good for Oden. He left with a boot on the foot. They played a blip from Greg who said his foot was "tender", but he'd be back in the gym tomorrow.

So, guess we hope bad "facial expressions" were from the dissapointment of how the team played...

I just listened to Oden's full interview. He sounds so disappointed. I feel so sorry for him.

The boot thing is a little scary, not "out for season" scary.. but makes me think it'll be a week or so. Who knows.... please let it be good news!

OK, here's the way it's going to go down.

Oden's injury will turn out to be minor, he'll miss a game or two, and then he'll come back strong, finish out the season with big numbers, lead us to a playoff berth, and be named Rookie of the Year.

We'll all look back on this little mishap at the beginning of the season and have a good laugh.

(Please, God, let it happen this way!)

The last thing we needed to see tonight..

A midfoot sprain in itself is a few weeks. That's motherf'ing crazy.

he tweaked his ankle..of course they'd put a boot on it for protection. After seeing the replay numerous times, it has to be a sprain. Let's just hope it doesn't linger. I feel so bad for the big fella tonight..all he wants to do is play. It was a total freak injury, just bad luck

I highly doubt he'd be able to play like he did with a broken bone in his foot. Looked like a sprain... X-ray would have showed a broken bone in his foot, no?

The sprain doesnt even look (that) bad. I mean, it's twisted, yeah, but most of his weight is on his other foot. I'm saying he'll be out for 2-3 days. Probably wont play Friday, or if he does, limited minutes, but next week, he'll be ready...

Probably should pre-tape the ankles anyway in the next 200 games.

I've done worse to my foot playing hoops before. I don't expect him to be out more than a week or two. When I did it, I was running full speed and I think I was out around 3 or 4 weeks. I don't think Oden's is that bad.
