Instead, he allows them back on the platform, amplifies it to make sure more people see what they write, and then calls it the actual truth. And then people defend him for it. I really didn't think we would see so many enablers of this kind of behavior in 2023. Boy was I wrong.

He's been pretty clear about why he doesn't do that.

That doesn't make him a Nazi or racist, even if I do think he has screwed the pooch with TwiX.

Free speech certainly doesn't mean you have to sit aside and allow people to tell lies about you.

Surely you know that.

I don't know what "free speech absolutist" means to Musk. I know that most people are hypocritical, and that includes Elon Musk. He's not a nice person by pretty much all accounts.

Well, it's pretty hard to figure why someone would spend billions specifically to give awful people a platform if they didn't somehow agree with said awful people.

And then he also says he agrees with the awful people. But maybe he doesn't really?

He sure looks like duck, walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, and has duck DNA. But as you say, maybe that doesn't make him a duck.

What does it make him?

You make a lot of assumptions there.

He spent billions on Twitter because he spends all of his free time there and he could afford it. He also dreams of building an "everything app" which will be used for banking, shopping, community square, entertainment, etc.

He's much further along with that goal after buying Twitter than if he tried to start his own site to compete with Twitter.

I personally doubt this will ever happen, and I definitely don't like the changes from Twitter, but that's beside the point.

And he obviously doesn't like the idea of being censored. Now he doesn't have to worry about that.

He said he agreed with the truthfulness of a post. He further clarified that post by saying he didn't support any racism.

Things are simply not as you describe them.

Trump said he is the least racist person in the world. Anyone believe that? I doubt it since he is constantly promoting racism. Musk uses his platform to promote racist filth. When called out he sues the caller. Then says he is against racism. About as credible as Trump.

Hmm... I don't think the fact that Trump is racist necessarily means that Musk is racist as well.

I mean, its possible Musk is racist as well. I just haven't seen the evidence to support that conclusion.

Obviously Trump being racist doesn't prove Musk is; my point was that sometimes racists praise themselves for saying they oppose racism in the abstract while promoting racism in the real world. When Musk references anti-Semitic filth as "the truth" I fail to see how anyone can call it anything but what it do clearly is. I am somewhat flummoxed as to why posters here, sane ones, are so invested in trying to deny Musk promoting racism.

I simply didn't see it as promoting racism. If all that was done is what I posted then it was Musk agreeing with something a post said. And clarifying that it was not intended as racist, and imploring people to stop with racism.

If there is more to it I'm open to changing my position. I just haven't seen it.

I won't buy anything from him now. I'm certainly in the target demographic for Tesla and Starlink, but those are off the list for me, and surely many others.

You give a huge amount of weight to his attempted retraction, I give more weight to his original statement, because it fits entirely in with all the other things he's said and done in the last couple of years.

Completely understand this stance. I can't see myself buying his stuff either. His companies are not big on customer service from what I can gather.

I have a multi race family and we have good discussions from time to time on how the grandkids are being raised to not be so quick to judge others and be compassionate. How to become friends with people regardless of race, religion, sex orientation and even politics.

How the FUCK is saying it's true that Jews are carrying out genocide against white people NOT racist? That Jews are destroying America by supporting immigration of people of color NOT racist? I have tried to keep my temper but having vile pro Nazi shit goysplained to me as not anti-Semitic is pretty fucking hard to NOT explode over. So again, I didn't see him say that. I'm sorry if that offends you. I've asked for clarification or screenshots of him saying these things and nobody has shared them to me and I'm unable to find them.

If he said these things inprint on the internet I find it hard to believe it would be difficult to find screenshots of it. For example, there is never a shortage when Trump says stuff like that.

Except I didn't say that nothing offends me. You took what I said to an extreme in an attempt to support your being offended.

Seems relevant to the point of being interesting. I'll have to take that into consideration when reading your claims about others.
