Yahoo Sports: Roy expects to start in Minny

I like the competitive spirit he has. His mind is stronger than his body. He almost single-handedly saved this franchise and I wish him nothing but the best (except against us). When he comes back to Portland, he should get a standing ovation.
Yeah, I have to agree with this. I think Roy's "comeback" is a mistake, but I admire his heart and his competitive drive. I would definitely give him a standing O if I were in the stands.

I expect Roy to kick ass the first month of the season. He will have had 17 months off from NBA basketball and be very fresh. He will probably be the second best player on Minnesota after Love, people there will believe they stole an all-star and all hell will start to break lose from fans here in Portland.

But he will abruptly hit a wall, he will play too many minutes, pain will return, he will lose mobility, explosiveness, and then the crippled complaining Brandon from his last season here will sadly be back for the rest of their season.

Not I - I think muted indifference is the best I'll be able to muster.

Minnesota is so desperate to placate Kevin Love, they went from lottery team with aspirations of being a "win now" team to being a win yesterday team. All-star level Brandon Roy, added to Love and Rubio would have been more than enough to make them a playoff team, possibly a second round team.

However, with today's Brandon Roy, they are still in the lotto, Love gets pissed and leaves. You can't just convince Love to stay by saying - "look, we went out and got a 3-time all-star to help us contend". Not when that 3-time all-star is a shadow of his former self.

You might as well sign 2-time all-star Allan Houston or 4-time all-star Penny Hardaway. They'd have as much chance helping you get to the next level as 3-time all-star Brandon Roy.

I wish Roy well, but he's also delusional. Roy in a Timberwolves uniform is going to be as painful as watching Willie Mays stumble around the outfield in a New York Mets uniform.

I am a fan of Brandon Roy and I wish him the best. I doubt he can do it based on what we have seen in the past - but if it happens - I for one will be very happy for him.

It's not like he spurned us. We can't have him on our team until his current contract expires. This isn't Oden telling us he won't sign with us or Batum telling us his dream is to live next to Mary Tyler Moore. He wants to play. I bet if he could, he'd play here.

I know it's been said a thousand times, but I still can't believe how cursed this franchise is to lose both Roy and Oden in the same year. What incredible bad luck we Trail Blazer fans have had over the years.

I don't think anyone is bitter that he signed with Minnesota..... well..... at least not the sane and competent. I just think he's delusional if he thinks he's still good enough to start. It brings back memories of Roy coming back from an injury and expecting to take his spot back even though it was obvious he wasn't fully recovered.

I just don't understand anyone who wishes him ill. There's a lot of hatred for him in this thread. It befuddles me.

I lost a little respect for him over his past year with the team, but I still appreciate what he did for the team.

My guess is Roy is hoping (or has already been promised by PA) to return to Portland as soon as he is allowed, which coincidentally(?) would be immediately after his 2 yr contract with the Puppies runs out.

One more yr. Roy cant come back until July 2015
