...don't know why you decided to typically and irrelevantly interject run differential into this thread is anybody's guess, ...but since you did, actually the discussion was about you trying to use run differential after only 12 games into the season as a barometer...after the Yanx had already won games by the score of 14-4 and 9-0 ... yeah, great way to gauge a team.
...this is why stats in the hands of those who don't fully understand them is dangerous.

Dont go there...my point was, and still is the numbers are indisputable regarding plus- minus run differential as it applies to first place teams, and last place teams....and ESPECIALLY teams which make it to the WS. YOU were the one who tried to sidetrack the issue and discredit me (the percentages) by bringing up (I believe) the 2014 Jays who were in 3rd place with a plus run diff over 30, and the Yanks in 2nd place with a minus...
The issue isn't about whether or not a team can have a winning rec with a minus, or vice versa, it's about the overwhelming statistical proof that shows a vast majority of teams finishing in last place down through the years with a minus run diff....and conversely teams finishing in 1st place through the years having a plus run diff.....and the rarest team is a WS team which finished with a regular season minus run differential.
Not impossible for a last place to have plus run differential....but very rare, and it's usually not a HIGH number. We've down this road...the numbers speak for themselves.

You only tried to "question" this solid historic statistical proof because I brought it up and you were in your defensive mode trying to bolster I believe Rick's brainstorm about the last place A's having a good plus run differential during the season.....but, it didn't hold up - last place AND minus run diff for the 2015 A's.

Well Rick, seems like you have no problem volunteering to say dumb things which question MY judgement and intelligence on matters and issues on the board.
Sometime I think you've appointed yourself as my spokesman.

YOU were beating your chest trying to belittle me and poke holes as I brought up (during last reg season) a tremendously consistent high percentage number associated with last place teams, first place teams, and WS teams- that is +/- run differential....through the years.
By bringing up the A's who at that point of the season had a +run diff over 30 while being in last place you were trying to weaken my stance and had a nice little laugh at my expense....this had to be the reason since you NEVER DID, nor have you aknowledged the overwhelming % of 1st place teams finishing with +run diff, and same for those % of last place teams who FINISH with a -run diff.....intead, you took the incomplete road and pointed to the A's in order to discredit me.

I even remember responding to you about that- something along the lines of:

No Rick - only because you seem to be my spokesman and it's never anything good- just chalk this up to me keeping things real just as you have no problem tossing insults, questioning my thoughts, judgements and trying to create an atmosphere of me being some kind of clown who is always "wrong"....just accept that we are capable of bringing up past episodes to demonstrate some other "clownish" behavior by others and you're no exception!.....and of course I do NOT believe I'm always 'right"...and you have also had your moments. Your "KEEPING IT REAL" would hold a lot more water if you could only manage to just stay in the here & now & try to refrain from having to go back months just to prove that you may actually be right about something. When you think about it, that's pretty pathetic. But hey, honestly I love having you on this board because of what you bring. You should thank me for being here...we wouldn't want any visitors or prospects to think everyone here sits around holding hands nodding at each other in agreement on EVERYTHING concerning the Yanks and Trashman. Sounds kinda unhealthy.
By the way Matt, do you think the "Cheeseheads" have gotten your memo to "say goodbye to the playoffs"....?

The Dodgers already have Gonzales at 1B & he's making over $20M per so he's not going anywhere. 3B is an option but I can't think of anyone the Reds would want.
 
^^^I was wondering the same thing...also don't get KC in on him...they already have Moustakas at 3B.
 
...he'd definitely fill the need for a solid RBI producing RHed bat the problem though, is that Frazier would only be a 2 year rental.

...plus considering that Cincy is in a rebuilding mode I doubt they'd want 2 guys who are on the wrong side of 30 like Gardner and Headley...I gotta believe they want prospect in return for Frazier.
