12 different Yankee Uniform Numbers, Have been worn by a Minimum of 50 different Yankee Players: ie, "50 players", each wore the least worn of these numbers, see Note:

Can you Identify the Uni-Numbers, and How Many Players Wore each number....?

Yes, you can cheat......(as noted in a previous post, if our Govt. and Oil Companies can legally Cheat, then Hell, you can too!!!!!!!

Note:Of the Most Worn Uni-Numbers-A minimum of 50 Players wore the least worn (of the most worn Uni-#s), 71 Players wore the most worn Uni-#, so how many Players wore the other Uni Numbers, and WHAT Uni-#'s were they...???

...not 100% sure of the others, but I do know that Gehrig was the ONLY player to EVER wear #4.

Good going Hammer, yes #26 was the single most worn Yanx Uni-Number, and was worn by 71 different players...
'
You got all day to go after the other 11 Numbers....No hurry, I will be here all day (with the exception of 1PST to 6PST and shall return)...

A TRUE HONOR-bestowed upon perhaps the Greatest Man to ever play the Game, at least one of the most Humble great men to play the Game.....!

I can't honestly agree with Jackie Robinson's number being MLB retired, when Gehrig's should be too, IMO....hell sure Jackie was really NOT the 1st black man to play MLB. Only in more modern times, as if the early days don't count....

Jackie may of been the 1st of his kind to play in modern times, yet they did name a disease after Lou....what effing more do they want...? Lou serves as much an inspiration to all, or at least in my circles, besides I love Josh Gibson and Satchell Paige, Willie Mays too, better than I cared for Robinson.

Besides Larry Doby doesn't get the fan-fare Robinson does, tho' he came into the AL just what 2 mos. after Jackie came to the NL...?

...Moses Fleetwood Walker...I remember his name because I've used it as a trivia question several times.

...and I also agree about Larry Doby.

Excellent 59....(I'll be back to add some other names of black players in MLB long before Robinson), ..... gotta go take my wife to the Doc....

Thanks for your input- "Moses Fleetwood Walker".....Hell, I enjoyed watching Doby play more than Robby...! IMO...

Thank you! FWIW... Here are the #'s only worn by 1 person...

4 worn by Lou Gehrig (11 years: 1929 - 1939, 1923 - 1928 were unnumbered)
69 worn by Alan Mills (1 year: 1990: his 3rd # THAT YEAR & 3rd of 5: 5#'s in 2 years)
71 worn by Austin Romine (1 year: 2011)
72 worn by Juan Miranda (1 year: 2009: his 3rd of 4 numbers in consecutive years)
77 worn by Humberto Sanchez (1 year: 2008)
87 worn by Charlie Wonsowicz (5 years as a coach: 2009 - 2013)
91 worn by Alfredo Aceves (4 years: 2008 - 2010 & 2014)

Also, interesting to note... When the Yankees began regularly using numbers in 1929, they were the FIRST team to regularly do so...

Yep, remember some old ESPN Board posts on the Yanx becoming the 1st Team to eventually, have to deal with the debacle over 3 digit numbers, or Alpha-Numeric numbers, many years from now. Still, I can't put a finger on what will happen 50 years from now. 3 digit uni-numbers, and alpha-numeric, or- numeric alpha seems out of line, as one could use A-1 thru A-99, B, so on and on. Crazy as it seems, one day it will be a reality, me-thinks. (I know don't hurt myself)....

I would think if they'd ever need to, they'd go to 3-digit numbers, then un-retire players like Reggie, Guidry, etc., then add the alphanumeric combos

...for those who don't already know, they did it so the people in the stands could differentiate the players from afar by their numbers which were based on where they batted in the line up...(Ruth batted 3rd, Gehrig batted 4th, etc)

One of the greatest ideas in MLB....If not for those numbers to ID players, I'd be lost as a kid, sitting on occasion in nose bleed sections of ballparks, even with binoculars.

I DO like your idea better Hammer, I think all of us here, have at least one time agreed, the Yanx have retired way to many non-deserving numbers....of players....King George drank a bit to much happy juice....

Damn, I miss King George, and there was a time decades ago, I would of never admitted to as much....The best part of Hank & the other Kids, ran down George's leg...! More than once obviously...!!!
