How many years does he have left in the tank? He's about to turn 39.

Back to the topic, the Mariners continue to be the most irrelevant team in the Northwest/MLB, Portland is in dire need of a team.

Time is ticking on 'Bring MLB to PDX' groups #1 location. The PDC/City envisions the next high-rise to spring up from this site in the future.

He sucks. I'm glad they got something for him. He deserves a ring so hopefully he gets one in NY.

It is similar to someone from Oregon saying they have been a Lakers fan since Wilt, still messed up.

How is it similar? Portland has no team? The Yankees aren't a rival of the Beavers/Rockies/nobodies. I am also not a Seahawks fan, Sonics fan, or minor league teams like the Sounders, Thunderbird or Storm fan

It was well before my time, but wasn't Wilt on the Lakers before the Blazers came around? The Yankees are the Lakers of the mlb, and anyone not from the areas that are fans are just annoying.

Being a Yankee fan requires no risk. Nothing is at stake. You know they are going to spend whatever it takes or pull whatever big-market strings they need to stay ahead of the league, and even though *GASP* they might miss the playoffs occasionally (and hear the wrath of the spoiled-ass fans, calling for every front-office head), rooting for them is easy. Being a true sports fan isn't easy. It's meant to be an investment.

Fuck, if I wanted my fandom to be easy, I would have become a Laker fan decades ago.

The Mariners can't suck long enough.

You are obviously too young to remember the 80s and first part of the 90s

and to be honest, most of the 2000's too.

1 world series win since 2000, and all that cheddar spent? Talk about wasted money.

At least they were competitive

True, but I think it was misspent competitiveness. Does that make sense?

They wasted a LOT of money on players that realistically they shouldn't have. I mean seriously, have you looked at their payroll? Them and Boston.

Lots of wasted money on talent not worth it.

I haven't seen a Mariners game until this NY game, is it always this empty at Safeco?

Seattle fans only going to games when the teams don't suck?

No.....thats not true (that's impossible!)
