RHP - Adam Warren, (5-4 3.63 ERA)

VS.

LHP - Dallas Keuchel, (8-3 2.35 ERA)

NOTE: As effective as Warren has been this year, he hasn't done to well on the road. He's 2-3 with a 4.91 ERA in 7 road starts this season, compared to 3-1 with a 2.21 ERA in 6 starts at home.

WOW! I don't get this lineup at all..........

CF - Young
3B - Headley
DH - Rodriquez
1B - Teixeira
RF- Beltran
LF - Pirela
C - Murphy
SS - Drew
2B - Petit

If the Yankees can walk away with a split I'd be okay.

Numbers don't look promising....Astros also exceptionally better at home and can score runs.
First impression, Yanks better score a few runs facing a pretty tough pitcher.
Tough assignment.
Obviously it would be a big help if Warren pitches a good game but let's be fair and give the him some slack with this one.
Just keep us in the game.
And 2/4 at Houston is NOT bad here and now.
I'm looking for 4/7 combined at Houston and Anaheim and I won't get annoyed if they go 3-4 but first things first- WIN tonight.

Go Yanks!

Getting the first game is usually a nice table setter.

Spring training lineup posted in OP.

You've got to feel bad for Warren with this lineup but what the hell, lets see what happens.

I saw the lineup and thought: :nerd: :smiley-bigsadeyes: :smiley-dizzy: WTF - :smiley-hmm::doh::confused:

It's going to be an interesting series with the Astro's 1st in HR's with 107, the Yanx 2nd in Hr's with 98.

Astro's tho' have the 2nd best Team B'Avg in both Leagues, with KC leading all with .002 points more in B'Avg than the Stro's......

Keuchel is going to be hard to beat, especially at home, where the Stro's have a .622 Win Pctg., and Keuchel has a 6-0 record at Home, while Batters hit .188 against Him at Home, and Visiting Teams OBP. is .248....

Yet, they can be had, ......... more on the road, but even at Home.....

It was a blast to see the last game in the Astrodome, and 1st game in Enron (Minute Maid) Park. The new park is a novelty, HUMID as HELL, but such is the norm for Houston to Jacksonville....("riding on the City of New Orleans").....

Humidity and Temperatures in Houston, is definitely a Home Field advantage......

Oh boy......looking at both of these teams,
Yankees are clear underdog. This Houston
team..... have mercy on these Yankees.

I don't know what Joe is smoking but the top 5 in the lineup better come up big or we're in trouble.

And Joe West is still a skummy ump.
Fat-chin-neck dooshbag.
Always has a "problem".
The guy is a menace.
"Strike three" to Petit was well below the knees.

You can blame the umps from now until
'Doomsday', the result ain't gonna change.

You've got to feel bad for this kid Warren, I swear its as if Girardi set him up to fail by fielding a lineup where only one guy is hitting over 265. Its a damn joke. But I guess this will justify sending him to the pen.

Dallas Keuchel has 'em baffled. Not hard
with this team.

Nobody is hitting shit so can we stop complaining about the lineup. Like Didi was going to be the huge difference maker.

Agreed. Dirty business. Warren still does not
deserve the demotion. WE ALL KNOW
WHO DOES!

...Murphy had NO chance to get Altuve at 2B...and now he's at 3B after the throwing error.

...the line up Joe penciled in has little if anything to do with what Warren does on the mound.

Not a terrible outing by Warren, probably got a bit rattled out there last inning. Offense facing a pretty good pitcher. Three errors, Jesus Christ.

Vic seriously I'm not talking about Didi, you don't rest 2 of your most productive players on the SAME night. It was just stupid.

How is it......that this is the best to perform
against a very good ball team. Three aspects
of the game must take place to produce a
very good team: (1) Offense (2) Defense
and (3) Pitching. When 2 of the 3 are not
happening, there's little chance that
the team wins.

Tonight the Yankees aren't hitting and the defense
is giving the Astros xtra at bats. Warren deserved
a better fate.

Point taken but it would have been nice to be able to benefit from having your best players on the field.

...I dunno, if I was gonna give Gardner and McCann a day off it would be against a LHed pitcher...Keuchel was just lights out tonight.

Brass Conversation

Hal Steinbrenner: Well Brian the team is not doing well
Cashman: You're right Hal
Steinbrennre: That's Mr. Steinbrenner to you.
Cashman, sure you're right sir.
Steinbrenner: So what are you going to do about it
Cashman: I'll demote Warren to the pen then fire Girardi
Steinbrenner: Proper talk indeed.

Call me nuts Ron I just always felt that you ALWAYS give your team the best chance to win. I have no problem with giving two of my most productive players a day off but not on the same night. You rest Gardner tonight & McCann tomorrow night. JMO.

...you don't really think Gardner or McCann would have made a difference tonight, do you?

...Gardner is hitting .239 vs lefties...McCann .235 vs lefties.

...besides, now you've got both McCann and Gardner playing tomorrow night vs a RHer.

Considering there was a lefty on the mound I don't necessarily agree. Plus, nobody did anything tonight.

You tip your cap to a guy who owned you all night and move on. There's little to complain about when nobody did anything against the kid all night.

Okay maybe you guys are right, IMO I just wouldn't have rested them both on the same night. And props to the Astro starter, pitched a helleva game. And for that matter I still think Warren has a solid future as a starter.
